NEWS: Limited Edition Lush Fragrances - Only available for 2 days! QUICK STICKS!

Okay so quite an aggressive title there but if you want to try out these fragrances you will need to be quick. You see Lush let their lovely forumites choose their favourite scents to be turned into a small collection of fragrances to be released online for 2 days only.

Source - Lush Australasia Facebook

First off, the date in the picture here from the facebook is different to what is on the website. On the website it says they are available from 7PM on the 17TH OF MAY.

The scents they have released in this collection are the following (scent descriptions taken from Fragrantica, The Perfumed Court or Lush) -

BigBig is a fresh, tropical scent of the beach, made as an imitation of the popular Big shampoo as a part of the Lush Forum limited collection for the holiday season of 2010. The fragrance features notes of mandarin, neroli, orange blossom and vanilla.

Twilight - Twilight perfume was created as a tribute to the beauty moment between day and night, glittering stars and purple - pink - orange sky. The fragrance is sexy and anti stressful at the same time, made of lavender, ylang-ylang and tonka bean notes. It belongs to the Lush Forum limited collection for the holiday season of 2010.

The ComforterLush The Comforter is a limited edition 2009 Lush perfume, made special from the UK Forum Fragrance Party.  This cannot be purchased from their website nor from any stores. The cypress and bergamot oils in this perfume soothe skin while cassis adds a mysterious and seductive aroma.

Creamy Candy - Sweet, frothy and fluffy bubbles that smell like custard creams. What a delight it is to have a bath in the equivalent of a cup of vanilla flavoured, frothy, hot chocolate topped with marshmallows. The Creamy Candy bath is like the friend you're always delighted to see, because he bubbles over with cheerfulness no matter what life throws at him. For days when your friend is busy, it's time to indulge in some Creamy Candy.

Snowcake - Snowcake is warm and sophisticated sweet smell of marzipan, cuddly and warm during the harsh winter. Irresistible marzipan - almond scent is caused by the combination of rose, cassis and benzoin. The fragrance is an imitation of the famous Lush Snowcake soap as a part of the Forum limited collections for holiday season 2010.

Rose Jam - The beautiful fragrance used in our Rose Jam bubbleroon and Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner has been voted by our customer forum as the one they wanted most as a liquid perfume. The Rose Jam fragrance is light, fresh and modern, with a hint of lemon and sexy geranium oil.

I was lucky enough to receive a bottle of the Creamy Candy perfume to trial and i've been wearing it this past week. I chose this because I felt it was the closest smelling to Snow Fairy which if that was available I would buy 395839532 bottles of. Creamy Candy is similar but definitely not an absolute match :(.

This may just be with this particular scent but when you use this fragrance go at it with a light hand as it's very very strong and overpowering. It's also long lasting on the skin and the scent didn't really change from the bottle to being on my skin. I think this bottle will last me quite awhile because I find one spray on one pulse point (your pick!) of this is enough.

To purchase head to the Lush Website and don't forget it's this weekend only!

I would love to know if you pick up any of the scents and what you think... I'm tempted to also get The Comforter.

We all love a sample right? Beauty Sample Offer from Adore Beauty!

I'm not usually one for posting press releases on my blog or using stock images etc.

However this little gem popped up into my inbox earlier today and I thought it'd be a nice offer for anyone who is mildly beauty obsessed, or highly beauty obsessed in my case.

I feel like if Adore Beauty had a stand alone store it'd be Australia's answer to Sephora. You'll find if a product I mentioned is stocked at Adore Beauty i'll often link to them to purchase the product from mainly because I've bought from them before and found the service to be flawless.

Something that Sephora often does is make up little deluxe sample sets so you can try a few prodz before you commit to a full size.

Adore Beauty are offering 2 sets with deluxe sized samples which they are calling the "Best of the Best" which are retailing for RRP $34.95AUD each. You can make your choice between a Skincare & Haircare set or a Skincare & Makeup set... or both... I'd say both :)

REVIEW: Arbonne Eyeshadows in Lilac & Indigo.. Stepping outside of my neutral comfort zone!

When it comes to eyeshadows it's generally my Naked Palette or something neutral, I do have a few eyeshadows that are a bit out there but I find it hard to wear them/not look like I am doing clown makeup.

I was contacted by the PR for Arbonne Cosmetics to try out a few products from their range; and having not heard of the brand I thought i'd give them a go.

The shades they sent me to try were Lilac which is a bright purple......well lilac shade with some silver shimmer running throughout and the other shade is called Indigo which I would describe as a shimmery taupe which leans purple, it's actually very wearable and I think will be a shade that will fit in nicely with my regular routine with the Naked Palette.

To be honest I was kind of excited because I thought this will be a challenge doing a look for the blog and stepping outside my comfort zone of neutrals.

In terms of formula, I found the Lilac shade to be a little chalky (as you can see in my swatch above). However I loved the formula of the Indigo shade, smooth and easily blended. Both shades are nicely pigmented and were long wearing, I did however have an eyeshadow primer on my eyes. I do recommend always using an eyeshadow primer to get the best and richest shades and keep your shadows longlasting.

For this look I used the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Lavender for a base to let the Arbonne Eyeshadow in Lilac shadow pop when i put it over the lid, I put the Arbonne Eyeshadow in Indigo into my crease and blended it all together with MAC Blanc Type.

What do you think? This isn't overly cray cray...let's be honest but it is definitely a step away from my usual bronzes and browns!

Arbonne Cosmetics can be purchased online from http://www.arbonneinternational.com.au these eyeshadows can be purchased for RRP $26AUD from the website.

Product Disclosure: The Arbonne Eyeshadows were provided for my consideration, opinions are all my own. Please read my disclosure policy for more details.

Let's get Naked 2!

If your a fan of the Urban Decay Naked Palette (seriously this is my HG product!) then surely you've heard of the sequel, the Naked 2!

When the initial palette was released it was like trying to pull teeth trying to get your hands on one and get it shipped to Australia, but luckily the UK online store Beauty Bay  came to the party and stocked and shipped them to us lucky Aussies.

Guess what? THEY HAVE THE NAKED 2! and wanna know something else? FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING (at time of posting this).

So of course as soon as I got the email, I ordered one and am now patiently waiting for it to arrive. All up with currency conversion it cost $55 which is less then 2 MAC eyeshadows here.

Curls, Curls, Curls! Review feat. Modiva Professional 25mm Curling Iron

Hopefully you sang that in the tune of Motley Crue's song Girls Girls Girls... that's how I envisioned it anyway :)

Let's talk hair... My hair is a bunch o tight frizzy curls which I don't like. So why would I be reviewing a curling iron you may say? Well let's just say i've always had curl envy... love everyone elses curls, hate my own! So when the lovely people at Modiva Professional offered to let me try out their new curling iron I jumped at the chance to get those perfect loose but bouncy Lauren Conrad style waves i've always lusted over.

I'm no stranger to the world of curling my hair... I've tried the GHD curls, failed. Curling tongs, failed. I have even tried top knotting and hairspraying the shit out of my hair so it became a crusty mess....biggest fail!

The thing I really liked about this particular curling iron is that it doesn't contain anything to snatch your hair onto which generally creates kinks. The thing I love most... It's easy and quick to use!

Just pop the little black heatproof glove (included) onto the hand you'll be using to wrap the hair around the iron, section your hair into pieces about 1.5" each, wrap your piece of hair around the iron (always away from the face), hold for a few seconds, let it go and voila beautiful big bouncy curls!

On Saturday night I did a little experiment in pictures with the first lot of curls I tried with this iron to show how well the curls stayed in my hair. With previous attempts at curling with the other methods my curls have generally dropped within a few hours, even with a ton of hairspray. Here is my little timeline.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="612" caption="7pm - freshly curled with hairspray"][/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="612" caption="12.30am.. looking a little sleepy "][/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="612" caption="Ready for bed! Put hair in top knot to see how the curl holds up!"][/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="612" caption="Next morning 10.30am! "][/caption]

As you can see the curls held up quite well, very impressive!

So all in all this is a great curling tong and something I think i'll be using quite a bit now. The one thing which did confuse me was it didn't really say when it was fully heated, but i gave it a few minutes and it was hot enough to make snazzy curls and boy it got hot. Overall loves it! !!

So if you'd like to pick yourself a Modiva Professional 25mm Curling Tong you can purchase directly from the Modiva Professional website for a RRP of $89.95

BUT! The lovely people at Modiva Professional have offered my readers a $30 discount off the full priced tong! All you need to do is use the following discount code - lovevulcanella when you checkout. This code is valid until 31st August 2011

This product was provided for my consideration, please read my disclosure policy.

Oooooo a high end lip gloss... it's Chanel too!

So i'm pretty much a Priceline aisle girl who occasionally dabbles in the higher end brands like MAC, Nars etc and to be honest i've always thought that some of the designer brand makeup was a bit of a rip off... I mean I can't really justify paying almost $50 for a lip gloss just because it has a designer logo on it (now removing self from high horse).

However it has always kind of intrigued me if the products are really worth that high price tag, and thankfully we have places like Strawberry Net where we can pick these products up a little cheaper and if you are a regular shopper there with your discount on top of that lower price. So I decided to try out a bit of Chanel and I took a safe bet on a lip gloss because even if the colour doesnt suit me I could easily try and manipulate it with a lipstick underneath etc.

I picked the Chanel Aqualumiere Gloss in Glass Quartz #69 (giggle!). Judging from the colour swatch on Strawberry Net this isn't the kind of colour i'd usually pick for myself but I did my usual searching for swatches on blogs and saw it was actually a really pretty wearable everyday colour. That's exactly what it is, it's a sort of rosey colour that looks natural on the lip.

The applicator is a brush which is something I haven't had before in any of my other glosses and it's a welcome change! The wear on this gloss is also pretty decent, lasting up to 3-4 hours even through my regular morning coffee and breakfast.

So do I think these designer brands are worth the extra $$'s... they are nice and the packaging is lovely but I think i'll be sticking to buying these sort of brands off the discounted websites, sorry Myer!

This particular gloss currently retails for $32AUD on Strawberry Net at the moment.

Blogger Challenge set by cclarebear.com

The lovely Clare of cclarebear.com has set a blogger challenge, and being the type who loves a challenge I knew I had to participate.

Plus it was all about finding bargains which I'm pretty good at :)

So the challenge at hand was to stock a makeup kit up for $100 for her friend Lucy. There were a few requests and some background info (images and quote taken from cclarebear.com) -

"Lucy is a wife, and mum of a super cute 15 month old boy, and has just returned to work from maternity leave.

Here’s what Lucy has to say about her current makeup situation from this post:

So I don’t really have all that much. I have run out of mascara, nearly out of powder, the only eye palettes I have are shimmery night ones, so I need a real daytime look. I am kind of ashamed of my makeup stash, it’s just cheap crap I’ve picked up over the years before big events – ie a visit to Gloss to pick up a bright blue eyeshadow that goes with the top I bought specifically for the occasion and have never worn again ROFL

So I prefer powder foundation, as I said, need a primer or something, definitely need a good concealer and something for the lips. Blush if it’s required :)

btw I have just bought some Olay Regenerist for my skin and I LOVE it!!!"

So how did I go? Well first stop was one of my favourite online makeup stores crushcosmetics.com and then I threw in a couple of items she can find practically anywhere that I totally love :) Clare also allowed us to choose one additional "must have" item so keep reading to find out what I chose.

http://www.crushcosmetics.com.au -

NYX Concealer Jar - $9.95AUD

Elf Pressed Powder - $7.95AUD

NYX Nude on Nude Natural Look Kit (I love their shadows!) - $19.95AUD

NYX Powder Blush in Peach (this is one of my everyday go-to blushes) - $11.15AUD

NYX Round Lipstick in Tea Rose (great everyday colour and great formulation) - $5.25AUD

I also think brushes are essential, so here are a few I picked off the website as well

Elf Eyeshadow C Brush - $7.95AUD, Elf Blushing, Bronzing, Contouring Brush - $4.95AUD, Coastal Scents Blending Brush - $10.95AUD

TOTAL - $78.10AUD (includes free shipping over $60... WIN!)

(images all taken from http://www.crushcosmetics.com.au)

A couple of items you can find in most department stores, Priceline & Supermarkets

Face of Australia Primer - approx $8AUD

Covergirl Lashblast Mascara - RRP $17.95AUD

GRAND TOTAL - $104.05

So I did go a little over, but you could always omit the lipstick because there are 2 lip colours in the eyeshadow palette.

Now for my must have product, this can also be purchased from Crush Cosmetics and is an absolute lifesaver of mine!

Urban Decay Primer Potion - $31.95

This was a really fun challenge! If your a blogger give it a go, or even if your not maybe make some suggestions for Lucy on Clare's post.

I Heart Eyeko!

I finally caved and made my first Eyeko order, they were giving out discount codes on twitter one day so I snapped one up and off I went to make an order!

Postage was quite quick from the UK, around a week and a half which I think is pretty standard.

Onto the pretties!

Eyeko 3 in 1 Cream

I believe this is the cult product in the Eyeko range, rightly so! As it's name states it's a 3 in 1 cream so a highlighter, moisturiser & primer. I've only used it as a highlighter and it's been perfect! I liken it to Benefit High Beam in colour but the texture is thicker and more moisturising.

Just a little bit of this dabbed on the upper cheekbones gives a nice subtle highlight/glowy look that we all love to achieve.

You get so much product in this little jar and you use so little so it's such great value! I also as usual have to mention the packaging, I love the cute pink jar but even more I love the box... cherry blossoms!! ahhhh I'm obsessed with cherry blossoms!

If you want to get your hands onto it you can purchase it from www.eyeko.com for $14USD or from Crush Cosmetics for $16.95AUD

Eyeko Grafitti Eyeliner Pens

I actually picked these up as an afterthought as I was filling up my shopping cart to qualify for 30% off my products. SO GLAD I DID! These are amazing, great line, great colour and the staying power is phenomenal!

I picked up the black and the Navy, this is my first foray into the world of Navy eyeliner but I like it for just a little bit of difference to my makeup. The Black however, basically has been on my lids for the last few weeks i've had the product. My daily makeup routine for work is generally no eyeshadow and just liner, so this has been perfect and I love that it doesn't budge!

The Eyeko Grafitti Eyeliners will set you back $8USD or $10.95AUD

Eyeko Military Polish - For Brave Nails

The main reason I wanted to try out Eyeko products were the wonderful things i'd heard about the polishes. I ordered a few different ones so i'm sure you'll see those in the coming weeks.

I decided to give the Military polish a go first, I'm right into these army green colours but unfortunately this one just didn't work for me... In even natural light it was a little too dark and became a nothing colour.

The quality of the polish however totally hit it out of the park, amazing! I only really needed one coat of this but as always did two out of habit. As for chipping, I had this on for almost a week and only had slight tip wear.

Can't wait to try my other colours!

These will set you back $5.50USD or $8.95AUD

Please note - photo was taken in artificial light

So you want to try out some Eyeko products! You can purchase them from www.eyeko.com or head to Crush Cosmetics if you want to keep it local. Keep in mind if you spend over $55 on www.eyeko.com you will get free shipping.

I also suggest following them on twitter as they often tweet discount codes and sales - Follow Eyeko!!!

Review - Beauty Pod Sponge

Something that caught my eye at IMATS was The Beauty Pod, very similar to the BeautyBlender but a considerable amount cheaper. A tool to make my makeup look airbrushed? Sign me up!

At IMATS it only cost $10AUD which is an absolute bargain, of course! Online now you can get it for around $12.50AUD which is still a bargain in my opinion.

So how does it work, basically you fill the sponge with warm water and watch it expand. Then you squeeze out the excess water and use it to apply your foundation. The finish it gives your foundation honestly is flawless, I was quite impressed (and let's be honest, i'm usually very skeptical!). I generally apply my foundation with a flat top kabuki style brush but have now switched and use this... or if i'm being ultra fancy will apply with the flat top kabuki and pat over it with the beauty pod to make it look even more flawless.

Here are some pictures

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="After water added, the beauty pod swells up"][/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Squeeze!"][/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Ready to use!"][/caption]

Clean up of this is easy too, just a bit of baby shampoo or any other gentle shampoo or soap will clean it right up. The one thing I didn't like was that it seemed to leave foundation residue on the pod that I can't get off so to me it looks dirty even though it isn't.

You can buy this online by visiting the Beauty Pod website or from Makeup and Glow

One word of warning, if you have a dog who is obsessed with Kong Toys... which I do!

Don't let them see this, my dog thought it was her kong and went a little nutso at me because she thought I was using her favourite toy and not giving it to her . Awwww Minnie :) (no her eyes are not blue, they are blackest black but for some reason show up blue in photos)

Review: Make Up Forever HD Foundation

Last week when I went to IMATS Sydney I was looking forward to seeing the Make Up Forever stand to see this foundation in person and maybe get myself colour matched. I decided to bite the bullet and just buy it there and then (it was at a discount too, so that helped the deciding of course!) I've been wearing it all week and in the worst element possible... the office I work in! Our air conditioning is the worst and dries my skin out like nothing else, makes my makeup cakey and blah. So I knew if it can withstand the conditions of the office, it can withstand anything.

Let's talk good and bad here shall we..

Good

The foundation blends easily

Feels weightless, like i'm not wearing makeup (LOOOOVE THIS)

Does look good in photos, I took a couple of vanity shots to see... sorry not posting them because 1. they are posey and blah 2. My hair really needs to be dyed and I feel yuck in photos 3. I can't be bothered uploading

Colour match is perfect that I only really need to put it on my face where I need coverage

okay and now for the ....

Bad

It's a little sheer for my liking, doesn't cover my redness enough. They say it's a medium to full coverage i'd say it's medium at best

The wear of it isn't great, I find it's basically slipped off my face by lunch time (I did try it with various primers as well, and it made no difference)

Overall - It is a nice foundation, but for the price we pay for it in Australia I don't think it's really great enough to justify. I'm not sure i'd repurchase in fact. So on my ever ending quest to find a great foundation that looks natural, covers my redness, doesn't go cakey during the day and lasts throughout the day this one didn't make the cut. I will use the bottle up though because I hate wasting product!

FYI I used various methods each day as well of applying... fingers, brush, sponge (beauty pod...review coming soon!) I think I got the best coverage and look from using the brush or beauty pod. I also used the HD Powder to set it but i'll do a seperate review on this product (I want to try it with some other foundations as well... ). I am also in shade #117 and I range in MAC from NC20-25.

The only place to get this in Australia is from Media Makeup. I do suggest getting a couple of samples to try out before forking out the RRP $75AUD. I only paid $60 for it at IMATS.

10 Online Beauty Stores (that ship to Australia)

I was going to write a separate post about this but I may as well mention it in here. I'm doing a challenge! Since the move of my blog and going through a bit of a rough patch at work i've been unmotivated by writing blog posts, so when I saw the 31 Days To Build a Better Blog Challenge I was onboard! Hoping it might help me get my blog mojo back.

Today is Day 2, and my task is to write a list post. I ummed and ahhed in my head about what I could write a list on and thought what would be something that i'd actually be interested in reading... of course... shopping. More importantly beauty shopping and even more important then that... Stores that ship to Australia :)

I hope you find this post informative and please let me know of any of your recommendations.

10 Online Beauty Stores (that ship to Australia)

1. Crush Cosmetics - This is an Australian based beauty and makeup store with a great selection of brands that aren't so accessible to Australian customers. Top brands include NYX, Milani, China Glaze, ELF and many more. I've used them a few times now and my experience has always been wonderful.

2. Make Up & Glow - Another Australian supplier, this store specialises in stage makeup and items for professional makeup artists. Don't be scared though anyone can order. Brands you will find here are Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (I want to try the Lip Tars!), Temptu, Model In A Bottle, La Femme & Beautyblender

3. Glossi - This Australian store stocks most of the drugstore brands at a discounted price. The great find on here is Revlon ColorStay foundation for $22.95 which is the cheapest i've seen it anywhere. Brands stocked here are Revlon, CoverGirl, Almay, Maybelline, Rimmel and tons more

4. StrawberryNet - Most people know of StrawberryNet or SN as it is sometimes known amongst the beauty pack :) They ship worldwide for free and offer many many brands in the realms of makeup, skincare, haircare and perfume for discounted prices. If I find something I want i'll often check if SN have it and order it from them. They also send the products in a box with a cute purple ribbon around it, small touch but I like it :)

5. Cherry Culture - I haven't ordered from them yet, but I do have quite a big wishlist on the website waiting for me to send to my shopping cart. I have read reviews from others though that recommend this store. They stock so many different brands and a massive range of NYX products for a very reasonable price. My hot tip though, sign up to their mailing list and follow them on Twitter. They regularly have sales!

6. Kiss and Makeup NY - This store stocks brands such as Smashbox, NARS, Laura Mercier and Fresh for a fraction of the price we pay here in Australia. The only downfall is the shipping can be quite slow but with a flat shipping fee of $7.95USD I think it's something that can be overlooked

7. Top Nail Shop - Yes this is an Ebay Store and I know sometimes we think of Ebay as EvilBay but in this case, it's not. I've purchased from this store before and not only do they have a massive range of polishes including brands like OPI, China Glaze, Essie & Color Club. They ship super fast! The prices are also very reasonable and the shipping isn't ridiculous either. Check this one out if you're after nail stuff :)

8. All Cosmetic Wholesale - You want to buy MAC online for a reasonable price? Don't want fake MAC? Enter All Cosmetic Warehouse (ACW) stocking brands like MAC, Urban Decay, Benefit, Smashbox it's a haven for all things we pay ridiculous prices for in Australia for a reasonable price. Most of the items are discontinued, but sometimes that can be what you're after right? I've gotten lost in this site because of all the goodies :)

9. Coastal Scents - This is where you find the famous 88 palettes and the amazing gel liners! The shipping cost can sometimes be a little on the expensive side but if you order enough for it to be worth it they are a great e-tailer :)

10. Benefit Cosmetics - We do have the stores here, but once again price markup is a little high and if you want to order a few things you can take advantage of the free shipping for orders over $115 (trust me that's not hard either!) Plus you can get samples... loooove samples :)

I hope this has been helpful, and like I mentioned please let me know of any stores you've tried and had a great experience with. I made do a Part 2 in the future :)

What a lovely postman!

How nice is it to get home from a long day at work and find that in your letterbox there aren't any bills, just lovely things to brighten up your evening... this happened to me yesterday!

First I got my mail, as usual dreading the bills that generally fill it! I was pleasently suprised to find, no bills and just a lovely letter from Priceline with a voucher for $9... Thanks Priceline!

Then underneath my Priceline letter, folded in half was this -

Thanks to my electricity company I have a 2yr subscription, and this is the latest issue. I haven't had a look through it yet but it will be on my list of things to do while relaxing this weekend. Only gripe is the cover girl, I'm not the biggest Nicole Kidman fan. Oh well it's free so i'm not really going to complain!

Then walking up to my doorstep, there was a package!! I knew what it was because i'd be waiting forever for this package to arrive. I made an order a few weeks ago on http://www.ezibuy.com.au/ when they had a sale and i'd been waiting over 2 weeks for my goods to arrive. I even sent them an email yesterday, oops it's here now!

This is what I got -

Urban Sweatshirt Blazer (the arms are massive though!)

Urban Boyfriend Blazer

I've been looking around for Blazers that aren't black and I like for ages! They fit quite nicely except for the arms on the grey one but I think I need to scrunch them up like the model? Overall the shopping experience was okay... I think i'd only buy stuff on sale there due to having to wait so long for shipping. I mean I've had things arrive from overseas quicker then that! I do however like receiving their catalogues in the mail. Mainly because I don't get catalogues to my house, which I don't understand considering I live in a pretty big part of Sydney... ahhh I love catalogues and miss them so

Now i'm off to stress myself out getting Metallica tickets for my boyfriend and his mate... for some reason I've been made the designated ticket buyer because apparently I never miss out... This just all adds to the stress!

Have a lovely day everyone and keep smiling :)
