NEWS: Limited Edition Lush Fragrances - Only available for 2 days! QUICK STICKS!

Okay so quite an aggressive title there but if you want to try out these fragrances you will need to be quick. You see Lush let their lovely forumites choose their favourite scents to be turned into a small collection of fragrances to be released online for 2 days only.

Source - Lush Australasia Facebook

First off, the date in the picture here from the facebook is different to what is on the website. On the website it says they are available from 7PM on the 17TH OF MAY.

The scents they have released in this collection are the following (scent descriptions taken from Fragrantica, The Perfumed Court or Lush) -

BigBig is a fresh, tropical scent of the beach, made as an imitation of the popular Big shampoo as a part of the Lush Forum limited collection for the holiday season of 2010. The fragrance features notes of mandarin, neroli, orange blossom and vanilla.

Twilight - Twilight perfume was created as a tribute to the beauty moment between day and night, glittering stars and purple - pink - orange sky. The fragrance is sexy and anti stressful at the same time, made of lavender, ylang-ylang and tonka bean notes. It belongs to the Lush Forum limited collection for the holiday season of 2010.

The ComforterLush The Comforter is a limited edition 2009 Lush perfume, made special from the UK Forum Fragrance Party.  This cannot be purchased from their website nor from any stores. The cypress and bergamot oils in this perfume soothe skin while cassis adds a mysterious and seductive aroma.

Creamy Candy - Sweet, frothy and fluffy bubbles that smell like custard creams. What a delight it is to have a bath in the equivalent of a cup of vanilla flavoured, frothy, hot chocolate topped with marshmallows. The Creamy Candy bath is like the friend you're always delighted to see, because he bubbles over with cheerfulness no matter what life throws at him. For days when your friend is busy, it's time to indulge in some Creamy Candy.

Snowcake - Snowcake is warm and sophisticated sweet smell of marzipan, cuddly and warm during the harsh winter. Irresistible marzipan - almond scent is caused by the combination of rose, cassis and benzoin. The fragrance is an imitation of the famous Lush Snowcake soap as a part of the Forum limited collections for holiday season 2010.

Rose Jam - The beautiful fragrance used in our Rose Jam bubbleroon and Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner has been voted by our customer forum as the one they wanted most as a liquid perfume. The Rose Jam fragrance is light, fresh and modern, with a hint of lemon and sexy geranium oil.

I was lucky enough to receive a bottle of the Creamy Candy perfume to trial and i've been wearing it this past week. I chose this because I felt it was the closest smelling to Snow Fairy which if that was available I would buy 395839532 bottles of. Creamy Candy is similar but definitely not an absolute match :(.

This may just be with this particular scent but when you use this fragrance go at it with a light hand as it's very very strong and overpowering. It's also long lasting on the skin and the scent didn't really change from the bottle to being on my skin. I think this bottle will last me quite awhile because I find one spray on one pulse point (your pick!) of this is enough.

To purchase head to the Lush Website and don't forget it's this weekend only!

I would love to know if you pick up any of the scents and what you think... I'm tempted to also get The Comforter.

LUSH Christmas Bathtime!

This was meant to be posted much earlier then 2 days before Christmas... but there is a silver lining! SALES!

If you've been reading my blog for awhile, or my old blog you would know I'm a bit of a Lush fan (Lushie). One of my favourite Lush releases of the year is Christmas! Not only does it mean I can stock up on one of my all time favourite products (Snow Fairy). It means they bring out a bunch of great products and gift packs for the festive season.

Earlier in the month I went on a trip to Adelaide with my mama (she is also a Lushie!) and whenever we go away together if there is a Lush store in the vicinity we pick something up for a night of pampering and since where we were staying had a bath we both went for Christmas bath bombs.

Mum purchased the Father Christmas Bath Ballistic RRP $6.95AUD which is a citrus smelling bomb with mandarin oil  and orange flower so a bit better for our climate (I find a lot of the bath bombs tend to smell wintery and since we have a hot summer don't really apply). When she put it in the bath she said it turned red and then green..FESTIVE!

I picked up the Golden Wonder Bath Ballistic RRP $6.95AUD mainly because when you shook it there was something inside! and it was shaped like a present with a big bow...I'm a big kid after all :)

Again, like the Father Christmas this was citrus smelling so again much better for our Christmas climate. It smelt good! However, the real magic was when you put it in the bath it started off turning the bath a golden colour, then a blue, then a bit green and it settled on this amazing teal colour and the sound in the middle? SPOILER ALERT! It was tiny golden stars which when they came out I thought they were amazing and then thought "Oh shit, I'll have to clean these up". Nope! They dissolve!

Lush make great Christmas gifts and have many amazing gift packs for those people who are hard to buy or you need to get a last minute gift for.

Also, keep an eye out in the sales... most years they do a buy one get one free on all Christmas goodies! I always stock up and will be buying a few of the Golden Wonder Bath Ballistics and some more Snow Fairy (you can never have enough Snow Fairy)

If I don't manage to post beforehand, have a lovely and safe Christmas! xx

Lush Fresh Face Mask in Catasrophe Cosmetic

Super exciting news is that Lush has recently opened near me! Perhaps not so exciting for my bank account....

I had to go visit opening week (I'm a self confessed Lushie) and decided a fresh face mask was needed, my skin has been a bit of a pain in the ass lately, it's dry one week and then breaking out like nobodies business the next, I blame the weather!

My usual go-to fresh face mask from Lush is Oatifix (I have so much love for that product!), However on this trip I thought i'd like to try something different, so I told the girl at Lush about my current skin issues and that I loved Oatifix but wanted something else to try and she suggested Catasrophe Cosmetic.

Here is what Lush says about it - Avoid disasters with the power of blueberries! Fresh blueberries are rich in beneficial antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to reduce inflammation and act as a mild antiseptic. Soothing chamomile, Irish moss and almond oil work with the gentle cleansing action of calamine to save your skin. Apply to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave for five to ten minutes, then rinse away with warm water. Keep chilled.

Check out all those little seeds! I decided on Friday night my skin needed a major pick me up, I've had a bit of a stressful week and that was really starting to show on my face. So I plopped on the mask and waited for it to do its magic.

I left it on for 10mins and gently removed it with warm water, I was expecting my skin to be as smooth as a babys bum like how it feels after using Oatifix, it wasn't. It felt like it did just before I put the mask on and I felt a bit cheated and ripped off... Not only that the little black seeds (blueberry seeds?) in the mask? An absolute bitch to get off your face! Okay, it wasn't all bad! The redness in my skin had really calmed and it did look a bit more radiant. I put my regular moisturiser and rose hip oil on and went to bed thinking nothing of it. When I woke up my skin actually looked pretty amazing, I didn't even really need to wear foundation that day (and I didn't because it was a gym day...P.S. I'm sore!). Yay!

Overall, I liked the mask and it felt really lovely on, but I think i'll try out a few more in the range before I go tooting the horns of this one. I still prefer Oatifix though and would highly recommend that for anyone with dry skin (especially in winter!).

One other thing to mention is these masks do have a shelf life, so remember to always check the expiry date on your tub and keep it in the fridge. It also says who made your mask! (Thanks Mitch!)

I love seeing pics of face masks on people :) Enjoy!

This product was purchased by me...I LOVE LUSH! :P

Yummy smelling showertime! Dessert Edition!

I have to make a little confession, I love trying out the brand new scent that comes out in shower gels, soaps etc so I thought i'd do a post on my favourite ones i've tried and this time focusing on Dessert smells!

I always shower at nice so I enjoy going to bed smelling nice and foodie.. oddly it relaxes me!

Also if your on a diet/health kick it's nice to smell these things and not think of the calories :)

Lush It's Raining Men Shower Gel / Honey I Washed The Kids Soap

Sadly It's Raining Men was a limited edition product (MAKE IT PERMANENT LUSH!) but never fear it's just Honey I Washed The Kids in shower gel form. I personally prefer it because I like using shower gel much more then soaps (I'm using it sparingly and I bought the big big bottle).

This smells of Honey and Toffee... it's delicious smelling and best of all it lasts on your skin. I can still smell it in the morning.

You can buy Honey I Washed The Kids from any Lush store, you may also be lucky and be able to get your mitts on It's Raining Men as well!

Lux Shower Gel with Shea Butter & Caramel - $5.49AUD

I think I can safely say everytime Lux bring out a new scent in their shower gel line, i'm onto it! When I saw the caramel one only one thing could describe it... NOMS!

This smells like buttery caramel at it's best and even though I used it a lot in summer I can see this being such a great winter scent.

The addition of the exfoliating beads also make this a fave and eliminate the need for another process come shower time! Yippee! More time to ponder blogging... come on all bloggers ponder their next posts in the shower too right?

Haus of Gloi - Bubbling Scrub in Vice ($3-$8USD)

Hands up who likes Smores? What about coffee? Well if you like Smores and Coffee... head to www.hausofgloi.com and put this in your shopping cart right now. This smells exactly of that! Don't forget to also get the matching lotion.

Of all the scents i've mentioned, this is my most recent aquisition and as soon as I opened the jar to sniff it I knew it was immediately going to be a fave! Not only is the Bubbling Scrub kinda fun but this scent lingers like a good smell (yes good!)

Not only is it lovely to support the smaller online companies but it's the service you get when you do. Everything is perfectly wrapped and you want to always be a customer... I know i'm going back to try more!

I hope you've enjoyed my yummy showertime!

Side note - If you are in Sydney and want to try Smores somewhere a new dessert place has opened in Parramatta called Incas South American Desserts and they do Smores... I've been twice (and I hope my trainer doesn't see this post!)

Lush Baths are the BOMB! feat. Melting Marshmallow Moment & Candy Cane Bubble Bar

Hello Monday! I had a super fun weekend, first off I met some amazing Sydney Beauty Bloggers/YouTubers which was so much fun. However I'll do a  post about this and the bloggers who attended on Wednesday (stay tuned....).

Right now it's all about Lush, during the meetup we visited Lush and I picked up a few goodies which I'll talk about as I use them of course. When going in there I knew that night i'd be visiting my parents and their amazing large spa bath so I bought myself the Melting Marshmallow Moment & Candy Cane Bubble Bar to take over there with me and have a relaxing bath... ahhh bliss!

Melting Marshmallow Moment Bath Melt - RRP $8.50AUD

To use this just drop it into your bath and it slowly fizzes away, not quite as insane as a bath bomb though. I actually was scrubbing it over my skin as it was melting down and found it to be a nice gentle in bath scrub too (multi purpose...loves it!).

I'm a big fan of sweet smelling scents, so this was right up my alley! It smelt of musk sticks and marshmallow (actually very similar to the MOR Marshmallow Hand Cream I have sitting on my desk at work). One thing I loved about this product other then the smell was how it made my skin feel, it was super moisturising and made my skin feel super soft. The scent didn't really linger on me after the bath but that's alright I got the instant gratification in the bath. It also didn't turn the bath water a colour or stain the bath (which I think is very important to note). I would definitely buy this one again...and again... and again

Candy Cane Bubble Bar - RRP $6.95AUD

To use this product, just crumble some under the running water while you are running your bath and ta-dah! bubbles will form (you only need a tiny amount too so break it up as you need it)

I love Christmas at Lush!!! With the Candy Cane Bubble Bar I didn't even bother smelling it one when I saw it, I figured meh it'll just be peppermint scented... that was until the lovely Lara from Swatchgirl informed me that it was actually Snow Fairy scented. Ummmmm I'm slightly okay more hugely obsessed with anything Snow Fairy scented so it was promptly placed into my little cane basket and paid for.

When used I was in a mass of Snow Fairy scented heaven (and bubbles)! This is the first bubble bar i've actually used, I have bought them and then never used them. I now see the hype and will start using the ones I have accumulated in my Lush stash. When I stepped out of the bath feeling lovely and cosy and ready for a good nights sleep I also smelt like Snow Fairy. The scent didn't seem to be there in the morning but heading to bed smelling like my favourite scent was truly delightful! I think my bar will last me awhile because I don't have a ton of baths but if there are still some left in the Christmas sales I might pick up a back up.

You can purchase these products in any Lush store or online at http://www.lush.com.au

Images used are from the Lush Australia website. All products were purchased by me.

May Favourites

I've been a bad bad blogger of late! I've had a lot going on at work and by the time I get home i'm exhausted and the last thing I want to do is turn on my laptop.

Hopefully everything will calm down soon and i'll get back into the swing of things... actually it's June which is always crazy! so bear with me :) I'm sneaking this post in while no one is here at work yet and it's quiet.

I missed doing my Thank Tumblr It's Friday post on Friday but will try and do a double one this Friday to make up.

Okay so May Favourites ... honestly I didn't use anything majorly different this month so there won't be a lot of products mentioned, hopefully I'll find some lovely stuff this month but my shopping mojo was down last month :(

Simple Moisturising Facial Wash & Hydrating Light Moisturiser

I am absolutely loving these products! They are another supermarket buy that I got in May and they are a winner.

The cleanser (Moisurising Facial Wash) takes the day off my face and hydrates as well. It is a gel like consistency and I find only using a little bit goes a long way with this product.

The Light Hydrating Moisturiser does what it says and it is a light moisturiser that sinks into my skin quickly and feels hydrated and soft. It also makes my mornings a breeze because it sinks in so quickly I don't have to wait around to apply my morning makeup.

If you have sensitive skin, I recommend you try out this range the products are all under $10 so definitely within most budgets. They have a few more products that I want to try out as well and will probabaly get in the near future.

Like I said I got mine at the Supermarket but they are also stocked at Priceline and i'm sure some Pharmacies sell them to.

I also think the packaging is cute (you know i'm a sucker for good packaging!) the tagline they use is "smile, it's simple" and reading this does make me smile.

____________________________________________________________

The other product i'm loving in May and is almost finished :( is my MAC Lipglass in Mimmy from the Hello Kitty range.

Does anyone know a dupe for this colour? I'm almost out and looooove it

____________________________________________________________

Last thing and is quite important for this time of year.

HAND CREAM!

I'm currently using a Cath Kidston one that I got for Christmas from my boy's parents from this set.

I apply this everynight along with my Lush Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter because i'm finding because it's getting so cold my hands are so dry and yuck (especially my cuticles)

I also keep a Hand Cream at my desk at work and apply that during the day as well, it's a Missha one but I think I want to try the Lush Smitten Hand Cream next as i've heard good things about it. I'm due to go to Lush in a few weeks :) yay!

I hope everyone is well and had a lovely month of May, what products did you love in May? If you've written a blog post or just want to comment i'd love to hear about them :) I need some lemmings for June!

Lush Haul! Tons of Freebies!!

I am home from Melbourne and while I love holidays and being away, it's nice settling back into routine, which includes blogging.

On my first day in Melbourne we had a plan to go to Lush due to the special nights they were putting on as part of the Melbourne Central Fashion Nights (or something like that) If you purchased over $25 worth of product you received a goodie bag.

I knew for sure 2 things I wanted but got a 3rd to make sure I got to my $25 :)

I bought -

Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter (omg so niiiiiiiiice!)
Angels on Bare Skin (I have wanted to repurchase this forever and everytime I go to Lush it's out of stock)
I Should Coco Soap (I love anything coconut scented, and this was a must try for me)

My total purchases came to around $36 so I received the goodie bag...... WOAH! I never expected so much in it! Here is a picture of what I received, it's more then what I bought!

I got the following in my goodie bag (thank you to my assistant Shane for reading them out to me while I type) -
2 x Sugar Scrub
1 x Too Drunk Emotibomb
1 x Dark Angels (full size)
1 x Herbalism (full size)
3 x Father Frost Soap Off Cuts
1 x Sex in The Shower Emotibomb
1 x Hsuan Wen Hua Hair Moisturiser (generous sample pot)

Pretty good huh! Can't wait to try everything out, So far I have tried Herbalism and I really like it however I'm not sure it will ever take the place of my beloved Angels on Bare Skin which makes my skin feel amazing!

Unfortunately this promotion was only for a few weeks and is now over so sorry to those who missed out.

Lush Soap Review

I got home today from a rather average day at work.... below average actually and saw the latest Lush Times hanging out of my letterbox. Score!

So it reminded me that I've been meaning to do a post about some Lush soaps i've tried out and a little bit of info and my thoughts on them.

If you aren't aware of Lush, check out their website in Australia go to www.lush.com.au, international try www.lush.com. Basically they sell handmade bath, body, hair and skincare items they use natural ingredients and a lot of their products are fresh (You'll often get a sticker saying who made the product and a little cartoon pic of them... which is kind of cute)

They are very well known for their soaps, now while they can be expensive their are a lot of goodies in the soaps and they are really something different to try.

Here are a couple i've tried out (planning on trying a lot more!)

I'll start with a couple of Christmas items I tried. These probably aren't available now but they do get released each Christmas.

Snowcake
I went a tad crazy with the buy 1 get one free after Christmas. This soap came in one of the gift packs I bought. The scent is a little almond like which usually i'm a fan of but this smelt a little "soapy" to me as well which I know sounds weird but i'm not really a fan of. Usually the bit of soap I cut off for the shower is gone in a few days, this is still sitting there because I'm not excited to use it. Anyone who wants it, i'll happily send it over? email me, tweet me or comment here.

Snow Fairy Shower Gel

I love this scent so much! It smells sweet like lollies, I can't really put my finger on it but it reminds me of some sort of lolly from my childhood.... It is amazing!

There are tiny flecks of glitter in this shower gel too but they don't come off on the skin :(

I'm sad this is only a Christmas item because I'd love to have a constant supply of this stuff (actually seen a few candle dupes so might try and buy the fragrance oil and get mum to make me candles in it) TRY IT!! seriously...!

Now a few soaps that are in the permanent Lush range -

Porridge
This is described on the website as a helping of porridge oats with a dash of molasses.

I love this soap, the oats in it seem to exfoliate my skin quite well and it smells delicious! I'm a big fan of food scents and this smells cake like to me.

Only downfall is when your chunk gets smaller in the shower sometimes the oats/soap ratio is a little out.

This is also one of the cheaper soaps in the Lush range, so definitely a good product to start with. Also a good choice for
                                                      men.

Rock Star

This is the first Lush soap I ever tried and it was the only one I ever bought until recently. It was always a go-to gift for me to (from people to me) I have a reputation for being a big fan of this! It was my favourite

It's another sweet smelling soap with quite a vanilla accent to it. Everyone I have made smell this soap has instantly fallen in love with it. I also love the cute stars scattered throughout.

Honey I Washed The Kids

Okay so I mentioned Rock Star was my favourite... Sorry Rock Star but the throne has been taken over in full force by Honey I Washed The Kids.

This is the most amazing smelling soap I have ever had the chance to try! It's a honey & toffee fragrance so once again sweet. See a pattern forming?

The thing I like best about this soap is that the fragrance actually lasts on my skin. When I use it i'll still smell it on me at work the
next day (I shower at night). I also find it super moisturising.

So one thing I want to mention about all Lush soaps is that you really need to be careful when using them in the shower. I generally cut off about a matchbox size and only take that in the shower with me so there is no wastage on the rest of the cake.

So do you have a favourite Lush soap I need to try?

Next on my list is The Godmother (I've heard it smells like Snow Fairy...), Spice Curls and Flying Fox Shower Gel so stay tuned for my reviews when I get those next time I decide to step into Lush and spend my salary :)
