Christmas Holidays! Update

So i've been a super lazy blogger, and honestly it's because i'm in major holiday mode! I'm actually enjoying staying away from my crazy twitter addiction and blogging just while i'm on this break. However I thought i'd do a little update since it's almost the new year and I haven't posted since before Christmas.

How was everyones Christmas?

I had a great day, except for my little trip to the hospital. So what happened? I decided to wear my funky new 2 finger skull ring from Sportsgirl to our family Christmas Eve dinner, got home and went to take it off...the sucker wouldn't come off so I sat there with soap, windex, ice everything google told me trying to get this darn ring off. My fingers started swelling from all the friction of me trying to get it off so I figured i'd sleep on it (literally haha) and see how it was in the morning. No difference, asked my Dad if he could get it off and after sticking my hands in a bag of corn for 10minutes (that hurt!) we decided a trip to the hospital was needed for it to come off. I have never had to go to hospital in my 29 years and it's funny the first time was for something so silly! The nurses ended up cutting it off for me and I was so relieved. Here is a lovely picture of my fingers after the ring was removed and let this be a warning to all... Yes 2 finger rings look rad, but they are a bitch to get off and if your fingers swell you're doomed! Don't buy them! Or buy them if they have adjustable ring parts.

In happy finger news, how pretty was my Christmas mani! I didn't get a proper photo of it, just an iPhone picture. The manicure was inspired by the lovely Cosmetic Cupcake :)

I used China Glaze Ruby Slippers, China Glaze Emerald Sparkle, Sally Hansen Celeb City, Ulta3 Lily White & Ulta3 Precious with the amaaaaaazing China Glaze Party Hearty over the top. LOVE!

Did everyone get spoilt this Christmas? I did! I don't like to brag about what I have been given but I might share a couple of things with you. I'm sure if you follow me on Twitter you will know I got a new 13inch MacBook Pro! It's my new baby, and she needs a name! My white MacBook is called McLola and I still have her but she's now being used by my boyfriend (although I don't think he loves the Snow White decal on her haha)

A few other things I received, in pictures :) (all from google images, sorry but i'm tired, lazy and on holidays)

That's just a few of the great things I got :) Now let me explain the last one it's a big book type thing where you put your Disney DVD's that you collect when they are released from the Disney Vault. If you don't know what the Disney Vault is it's basically they release certain movies for a short period of time and then they go back into the Vault for around 5 years I think it is? So anyway the book/box thing came with Snow White, Sleeping Beauty & Pinocchio and i've already purchased The Princess & The Frog and Beauty & The Beast to go into it as well. The dvd's in it come in both BluRay and regular dvd which is great because with Disney when you buy a BluRay dvd you also get the regular one as well. I don't know if anyone else is a major Disney nerd like I am but if you are interested I can take pictures of the inside etc :)

So I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, I can't believe it's New Years Eve tomorrow! I'm hoping to get my post with bloggers top 5 products of 2010 up tomorrow, but if not it'll be up on Sunday.

Gorgeous Stila palette for a bargain price...is she insane?

Nope I'm not! Quickly head over to Mecca Cosmetica and pick up this gorgeous Stila palette for $90... no actually that's what you'd expect to pay right? It's really only $38!!!.

I honestly didn't think I needed another palette in my life (except for you Urban Decay Naked Palette) but when I saw the insanely good price of this palette and the fact it was in my home country and not via some US online store I was sold, literally.

This is such a versatile palette with a range of colours which can make a combination of looks. I am obsessed with the burgandy colour it just makes my blue eyes pop. The quality is regular Stila quality which in my opinion is very good, pigmented easy to use shadows.

This is currently sold out online, but I have seen it in Mecca stores so check those out.

Apologies I didn't take photos when I first got the palette but I'm too impatient to wait until I get good lighting to take photos, I have to use things right away.

Sunday Evening Pamper Session Feat. Wondercap & Pores Be Gone!

It's no secret I love pampering, and what better time to pamper yourself then on a Sunday night before another long working week. I also find Sunday nights a good time to trial some products out, in particular products that I can do one use and review like masks etc.

So what did I do this Sunday? I decided to give myself a hair mask and a face mask both at the time time... say whaaaat Multi-Tasking baby!

Let's talk the Wondercap. I'm sure you've read about this on a few blogs, I sure have and now it's my turn to give you my thoughts on it.

Basically what it is, is a heat pack for your head. It's a gel packed cap which you heat up in the microwave for 90seconds and then pop on your head with the treatment conditioner provided or your own if you prefer.

Do you remember ever going to the salon and getting a treatment put on your hair and sitting in one of these -

This is a similar idea, the heat from the cap making the treatment sink deeper into your hair... Great, Good, Wonderrrrcap!

So my experience of it - The first time I used it I used the Guardian Angel Intensive Treatment Conditioner that came with it... Okay i'm going to be honest and tell you that when I used it with the provided treatment it did absolutely nothing for my hair, in fact I had to condition it again afterwards with my regular conditioner. However, last night I used it along with my Pantene 3 minute miracle conditioner ($7.99AUD for 3) and it worked wonders! Today my hair feels soft and silky and I almost feel like I could be swishing it about like they do on tv. So basically, love the cap but don't like the conditioner provided with it. I did also find the cap a little heavy on my head but since you only have it on for 3-5 mins it's definitely bearable.

You can purchase the Wondercap for $49.95AUD from various locations including some Shaver Shop stores, Ry.com and wondercap.com.au

As for the goop on my face. I decided to use a face mask and I went with one i've had sitting in my drawer for awhile begging to be reviewed! It was the Formula 10.0.6 Pores Be Pure refining mask with Strawberry & Yarrow. This smelt like I was slapping Strawberry Yoghurt on my face, it also stung a little. I don't really think it did much for my skin although my blackheads seemed to be a little reduced and it didn't dry out my skin like I thought it might. I think this would be more suited to a younger skin with acne issues, but for $1.99AUD for a sachet it was worth the try. You can get this at Priceline.

My camera battery ran out when I went to take product pics, so here is a snazzy one I took on my iphone instead.

Please note the Wondercap was sent to me for review.

I finally have some Illamasqua in my life!

After the longing looks and the ummming and ahhing I finally succumbed and purchased my first Illamasqua products. I did play it safe and got the nail varnishes but I am not at all disappointed, in fact I think I officially have a new favourite polish brand!

There is a deal on at the moment at Myer, 2 polishes for $49AUD or 4 for $99AUD and when they regularly retail for $34AUD this is a pretty sweet deal! Plus you get to pick the combo of polishes, you don't need to get the pre-made ones they have. They come in a lovely little box as well so also a perfect Christmas gift!

I picked Phallic, which has been on my wishlist for a looong time and also Viridian which is a fairly new colour.

Can I just say right now, I have never had a polish apply as nicely as these Illamasqua polishes. One coat would have done but I like 2 and the wear is amazing!

I need more!!! I may even venture into the makeup side soon :)

I couldn't decide which colour to wear first, so I wore both! Viridian is the main colour and Phallic is on my ring finger as an accent nail. I love doing accent nails.

Products I'm Not Loving...

Usually I review things that I really like, but I thought i'd just tell you guys about a couple of things that I've gotten recently and haven't been enjoying.

Norsca Soft Vanilla Anti Perspirant Deodorant

I can't find a picture of this anywhere, and the Norsca website seems to be having a few issues... Quite like this deodorant. I found an image to sum up my thoughts instead.

I got this because I needed a spare deodorant to leave at my parents house when I stay there and since I like Norscas Cherry Blossom deodorant so much I thought i'd try the Vanilla... Big Mistake!

While it works well as a deodorant, the fragrance is more Eau De Piss then Vanilla. The scent doesn't last long so it's not a total write off but it certainly isn't pleasant. I do hope they work on the scent because if it was a lovely vanilla i'd be totally on board!

If you do want to buy this, good luck you can get it at Supermarkets and Priceline for around $4.50AUD. I do suggest the Cherry Blossom fragrance though, that is lovely.

Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo

I'll be the first to admit dry shampoos have changed my life and the way I care for my hair. When I saw Tresemme was bringing one out I was quick to pick it up and excited to give it a go since my beloved Batiste was finished up.

Unfortunately it didn't quite tick all the boxes for me in terms of what I need from a dry shampoo. I found it to be a little sticky on my hair and not giving me that fresh washed look that I tend to get from Batiste products.

What I did like about it though was the smell, that was lovely and the size of the product is also a plus!

I will probably finish my can of it because I hate wasting product but I don't think i'll repurchase.

If you do want to try it out, again this is available at Supermarkets and Priceline and will cost around $11.50AUD

Mask Madness!! Aptiva Express Beauty with Honey

On a little Saturday shop with Jade Musing, I picked up this mask to give a go. I knew I would be home that night and thought i'd treat myself with a little face mask (even though I have a ton still at home to use up....oh well)

We were going through the Aptiva stand at Priceline (yep it's a new range stocked there!) and thought about our troubles, mine being dehydration so I picked a mask in that catagory and went with Honey because well... Honey smells good!

So this mask is unlike any mask i've tried before, it's a very creamy/wet mask. It doesn't tighten on your face like i'm used to with masks so I could still easily sing along to Karaoke Box on MTV while it was doing it's magic. It smells great! The scent even lingers on awhile after you've removed the mask.

Did it do it's job? At first I thought no.... but then as the night wore on I noticed my skin was feeling very soft and looked super glowy! Yay winner!

You can buy this mask for a pack of 2 sachets (very handy indeed) for around $7.50 at Priceline.

Like how I managed to take this on a whirlwind tour to NY on the weekend, that's the Brooklyn Bridge and me and my mask!

Okay Okay it may just be my shower curtain :)

PolkaDot PR & Scunci Blogger Event

I was lucky enough to be invited by PolkaDot PR to attend a blogger event for the hair accessories brand Scunci... Thursday afternoon lunch with wine? I was so in!

10 lucky beauty bloggers got to hang out and have a delicious lunch, have a gossip and drink wine and hear about the hair accessory brand Scunci.

Scunci is a brand I have always had on my radar, I love their metal-less snagless hair ties especially because i'm a no fuss girl when it comes to my hair, and if it's a bad hair day (75% of the time it is a bad hair day) my hair is in a ponytail. So decent hair ties are always a must for me! Plus i'm always losing them, not sure how?

We were lucky enough to also be given a goodie bag at the event with a bag of Scunci items to try out, I've only had a chance to use one thing so far but I can already tell this is going to be a must buy for me from now on!

The evolution hair ties are a kind of silicone, rubber hair tie but boy do they stay put in your hair! Plus when you remove them you don't take a chunk of hair with the tie. They also feel durable and I feel like i'll get quite a bit of use out of one before I need to go onto a new one. The Evolution hair ties retail for $7.50AUD for a pack of 14.

Now onto photos from the event, my photos didn't turn out great so I apologize for that and I also didn't get many pictures of the bloggers who attended! BAD BLOGGER PHOTOGRAPHER I AM! :)

Thank you so much to Scunci and PolkaDotPR (in particular Beau) the day was so much fun!

It was also great putting some faces to the names I chat to on Twitter and Blogs I read daily :)

I Heart Eyeko!

I finally caved and made my first Eyeko order, they were giving out discount codes on twitter one day so I snapped one up and off I went to make an order!

Postage was quite quick from the UK, around a week and a half which I think is pretty standard.

Onto the pretties!

Eyeko 3 in 1 Cream

I believe this is the cult product in the Eyeko range, rightly so! As it's name states it's a 3 in 1 cream so a highlighter, moisturiser & primer. I've only used it as a highlighter and it's been perfect! I liken it to Benefit High Beam in colour but the texture is thicker and more moisturising.

Just a little bit of this dabbed on the upper cheekbones gives a nice subtle highlight/glowy look that we all love to achieve.

You get so much product in this little jar and you use so little so it's such great value! I also as usual have to mention the packaging, I love the cute pink jar but even more I love the box... cherry blossoms!! ahhhh I'm obsessed with cherry blossoms!

If you want to get your hands onto it you can purchase it from www.eyeko.com for $14USD or from Crush Cosmetics for $16.95AUD

Eyeko Grafitti Eyeliner Pens

I actually picked these up as an afterthought as I was filling up my shopping cart to qualify for 30% off my products. SO GLAD I DID! These are amazing, great line, great colour and the staying power is phenomenal!

I picked up the black and the Navy, this is my first foray into the world of Navy eyeliner but I like it for just a little bit of difference to my makeup. The Black however, basically has been on my lids for the last few weeks i've had the product. My daily makeup routine for work is generally no eyeshadow and just liner, so this has been perfect and I love that it doesn't budge!

The Eyeko Grafitti Eyeliners will set you back $8USD or $10.95AUD

Eyeko Military Polish - For Brave Nails

The main reason I wanted to try out Eyeko products were the wonderful things i'd heard about the polishes. I ordered a few different ones so i'm sure you'll see those in the coming weeks.

I decided to give the Military polish a go first, I'm right into these army green colours but unfortunately this one just didn't work for me... In even natural light it was a little too dark and became a nothing colour.

The quality of the polish however totally hit it out of the park, amazing! I only really needed one coat of this but as always did two out of habit. As for chipping, I had this on for almost a week and only had slight tip wear.

Can't wait to try my other colours!

These will set you back $5.50USD or $8.95AUD

Please note - photo was taken in artificial light

So you want to try out some Eyeko products! You can purchase them from www.eyeko.com or head to Crush Cosmetics if you want to keep it local. Keep in mind if you spend over $55 on www.eyeko.com you will get free shipping.

I also suggest following them on twitter as they often tweet discount codes and sales - Follow Eyeko!!!

Hello Soft Hair! Alchemy Macadamia & Wheat Protein Conditioner

Do you ever get that feeling after your hair is washed and it's so soft you keep touching it? Yes?

I have that right now!

The Alchemy/Akin brand has always been n my radar because of the natural ingredients they use and the fact they are Paraben and Sulfate Free which is an absolute winner.

The Alchemy Macadamia & Wheat Protein Repair Conditioner is targeted at people who need a little bit more care for their hair (oh wow i'm a poet....etc etc) which I definitely need, since my hair is coloured and heat styled the majority of the time my hair is quite damaged and needs that extra TLC.

Thanks to this amazing conditioner my hair is soft and manageable and rocking a fair bit more volume then normal. LOVE IT!

Also I have to mention the scent, it's Sandalwood but it's not crazy hippy strong Sandalwood it's a lovely subtle Sandalwood smell that always reminds me of my mum :)

I bought mine at Priceline where they stock most of the range, and I paid $14.50 for the smaller 225ml bottle (however I think i'll be getting this in the monster 500ml pump baby, plus some shampoo!)

Current Fragrance Loves!

First off a bit of a disclaimer on this post... I'm really bad at describing scents! If you do want to read a great perfume blog with great scent descriptions head to Girl With The Curious Nose

MOR Cassis Nois Perfume Oil

This fragrance is one i've had sitting on my dresser for awhile after it came in my goodie bag from the Primped event. It was sniffed and really not thought of again. Until a few weeks ago I thought I should give it a go... well a sniff does not to this fragrance justice! It's absolutely gorgeous!

MOR describe on their website as - The fragrance is introduced by sparkling Cinnamon Leaf, Bulgaria Rose and Black Currant that flirt with Star Jasmine in a warm seductive dance.

When I smell it I definitely smell the currant notes in it, it smells a little fruity to me with a warmth which I think is the cinnamon coming through very slightly. It smells to me like a grown up version of those Blackcurrant pastille lollies you get.

My only problem is it doesn't wear too long on my skin, so needs to be reapplied during the day. However since it's in a handy rollerball bottle it's handbag friendly and can be taken with you!

You can buy this from MOR Cosmetics, Myer and DJs. The RRP is $19.95 for 9mls

Can I also mention how beautiful the packaging is, I can't bring myself to throw out the cardboard casing because the pattern is absolutely gorgeous!

Kim Kardashian - Kim Kardashian

Confession time... actually not really if you read my twitter or have read my blog before you probably know I love my trashy reality shows and included in that bunch is of course Keeping Up With The Kardashians, I admit I love watching people who live a completely different and unrealistic lifestyle to me.

It was really only a matter of time before a perfume came out, I actually remember the episode where Kim was in talks about making the perfume and Kourtney & Khloe were mega pissed because they were going to do it together and call it Dash. I wonder what that would have smelt like? Well girls i'm kinda glad you took a backseat because I'm loving Kim's perfume!

The notes in this perfume are completely my type of scents. There is Jasmine, Gardenia and Tuberose with base notes of Tonka Bean, Jacaranda Wood and Sandalwood. Honestly I only ever smell the Jasmine, Gardenia and Tuberose and honestly depending on the weather it will change daily as to which is a more dominant note for me. For example this morning it was quite chilly and I smelt Tuberose and a tiny bit of Jasmine.

But guess what... I think Kimmy might have gotten a little bit of inspiration in her fragrance. My mum came and visited me for lunch the other day and I smelt her perfume and said "Ohhh did you buy the Kim Kardashian perfume too?" and she looked a little offended... and said "Nope it's my Michael Kors". I swear... complete dupe! I'll have to try mamas Michael Kors and see if it smells the same on my skin though.

As for the bottle, it's okay... I think the 100ml bottle is much nicer but I can hide this one behind my other pretty bottles on my dresser.

Where can you get it? Well I've only seen it at Priceline but i'm sure you can also find it online as well. I paid $39 for the 30ml bottle.

MOR Cassis Noir was a freebie in my Primped lookbook event giftbag

I got some pretty good photos from the night which I wanted to put up here but I've been lazy and haven't edited them yet. I do want to make something cool out of them maybe a canvas or something? Not sure! This is a very very young picture of them but it's kinda cool. Lars was wearing Jeggings on the night which I found totally unacceptable!

I love Guitar Hero / Rock Band-esque games! We played the new Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock a fair bit this weekend. I hated the Rush section we had to pass! I do like the Quest Mode though :)

Nails! Color Club Untamed Luxury & Wild At Heart

I recently placed an order with Transdesign and decided to try out a couple of Color Club polishes, a brand i'd heard great things about and had a few colours of on my list of wants.

The first one I tried out is from the recent collection of the same name. Untamed Luxury is a glitter suspended in a green jelly base, the glitter has flashes of blue and the green making it a pretty dimensional polish.

I did find it a little matte looking though and this was even after a coat of Seche Vite, so maybe a few coats of that is needed. It also chipped really easily which is a bummer because it's an awesome colour.

I actually mentioned on Twitter that this colour reminded me of Ariels mermaid tail from The Little Mermaid.

One of the other colours I picked up is absolutely awesome with a capital A! It's Color Club Wild At Heart which is a purple holo!! eep so amazing! I'm loving holos so much lately, and they look particularly cool when the sun is shining because you get the rainbow goodness from them.

Only thing I don't like and this could be more my limited skill is trying to capture how great the holo actually is in photos.

This polish applied like a dream, one coat and it was done but I did 2 because that's just the way I roll. Ignore the crappy application this was too pretty not to photograph right away!

Summer Essentials! Feat Dove, Neutrogena & Gillette

I think we are finally started to see a bit of warm weather here in Sydney, so it's a perfect time to tell you about a few things I'll be using for these upcoming warmer months!

Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash

The thing I love most about this cleanser is the scent, it's so amazingly summery and fresh smelling that I could happily use it as a body wash. I love that when I wash my face with this at night it feels so squeaky clean and I feel like it's really done it's job. I do find it a little drying though so make sure if you have dry skin to try and limit your use of this or do what I do and make sure you apply a really hydrating cream afterwards (I use this at night only and use my night cream afterwards). RRP $14.99AUD

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Daily Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF30+

If you ever learn anything from my blog, please make it that wearing a sunscreen everyday is essential (even if it's overcast outside). I've been using this Neutrogena one and loving it. I use the hydrating formula and what I like most is that it sinks into the skin quickly. I've recently learnt that you apply facial sunscreen first and then moisturiser, hands up if you were doing it the other way (I was!). The only thing I don't like about this product is the packaging, you really have to squeeze the bottle quite hard to get product out. RRP $14.99AUD

Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion

I really start to feel it's summer when I pull out (or go buy another bottle) my Dove Summer Glow! I started using this product when it was released I think about 2 years ago now and it's my absolute favourite gradual tanning product. I love the smell, to me it embodies summer. I buy it for myself in the medium/dark even though i'm quite fair but I find it just gives me the most amazing golden glow. As with all gradual tanners you apply this daily and it builds up to a nice colour. Once it gets too dark I switch to a regular body moisturiser for a few days and go back to this when it starts fading. If your not the best at applying fake tan this is an absolute fool proof gem! It comes in a bunch of sizes too, but I get the big bottle! RRP $6.99 - 16.99AUD

Gillette Venus Spa Breeze Razor

So it's beginning to get sunny outside, if your anything like me you've let your legs into such a terrible state that we may need to call in the tree loppers to take care of the situation. Enter a gorgeous razor that not only smells absolutely devine (white tea! yummmm!) but actually does the job and does it easily with a super close shave....plus it's pink which is a major plus in my books.

I'm not a waxer, I'm a shaver! I love the convenience of knowing if I have a bit of stubble on my legs and need to wear a dress or shorts, I can just go over my legs with the razor and go out the door with smooth legs.

I also adore the moisturising bars on this razor, it eliminates the need for another product in the bathroom and makes it such a good option to take travelling as well. Have I mentioned the smell? Yes? well again....YUMMMMMMMM!! RRP $18.15AUD (for the complete system)

I will be doing a few summer essentials posts in the future so keep a look out for those!

Most of these products can be purchased in Priceline and Supermarkets.

All products were purchased by me, except for the Gilette Venus Spa Breeze Razor which was sent for consideration.

Don't forget to wear your sunscreen!!! :)
