Link Love

I'm trying to get back into my blogging routine, which includes my weekly link love post. Some of these posts from bloggers are a few weeks old because i've had them sitting "starred" in my google reader awaiting my lazy ass to do a post.

I'm also sure i've missed a ton of great posts too!

Sabine from Bini Blog Beauty has posted a list of her favourite YouTubers. Such a great guide if you are looking to expand your subscription list!

Clare from cclarebear.com has posted a great guide to taking makeup photos! I've been looking for something like this for ages so major thumbs up Clare :)

Mez from Blithely Unaware has posted a recipe for a yummo magical muesli! Check her blog out people she has great recipes and always makes my tummy growl!

Dee from Miss Prissypants is swatching her stash! (something I plan on doing very soon myself) Check out her amazing NYX and ELF items

Leesha from xsparkage.com shows us Gwen Stefani as the new face of L'Oreal in her hot new ad and the lipstick she wears in it.. WANT!

Georgia from The Glamorous Life makes her video debut and shows us how to get snazzy Victoria Secret curls

Lilit from Makeup & Macaroons (cool name btw) reviews one of my favourite ever products! NARS Laguna/Orgasm duo

Tara from Keeping Up With Me reviews one of the hottest beauty gadgets the Clarisonic Mia... and it's pink!!!

Jade from Jade Musing gets inspired by Vogue in this awesome and very colourful FOTD!

The beauty blogger auction is now over which was run by Hannah at Counter Obsession, check out her post about the final tally. AMAZING! I managed to score a few items which i'm very excited about and will review when I receive them :)

I've been working on getting healthy and improving my fitness...and yes losing weight but in a very healthy way. I've also started contributing to a new blog which is all about that! Check it out at We Be Running you can read about mine and others stories about our health and fitness and our goals and what motivates us. I was hoping to find out my progress this week with my Personal Trainer but his week was a bit messy so were doing it next week instead.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

NOTD - China Glaze Peachy Keen

Hi Nails I haven't seen you on this blog for awhile...

Here is one of my new colours that I picked up for a bargain ($6) at ProNail in Bankstown.

It's from the China Glaze Up Up and Away collection and the colour is Peachy Keen and it's... Peach!

I don't really think this colour suits my skintone but a girl at work thought it looked fantastic... I think it might end up being a toe colour in it's future.

Product Review - Beaute Pacifique Puffy Eye Gel = LIFESAVER OVER XMAS!

I've been using this eye gel for quite awhile now, I like to review a product but get a full use of it before I let you guys know about it.

As my title suggests... this gel was an absolute lifesaver over the Christmas period! I had a couple of late nights, sleepless nights (stress related) and a very busy work schedule. I woke up many mornings with puffy eyelids which is something I honestly don't normally get. Enter Beaute Pacifique Puffy Eye Gel!

This little miracle in a pump bottle resorted my eyes back to their normal position and ready for eye makeup. I only use this in the mornings as I use a more moisturizing eye cream at night. The gel is extremely cooling and feels really lovely on the skin (especially on warmer mornings) The pump bottle makes for an easy dispenser and also hygenic!

Now that the silly season is well and truly over I still sometimes wake up with puffy eyes thanks to my weird sleeping patterns so I can see this is going to be a great staple in my everyday beauty routine!

You can purchase this online at the Beaute Pacifique website for $75AUD

This product was provided for my consideration.

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain - Flame

So one of my HG (holy grail) items is Covergirl lipstain in Blush but when I saw these new ones by Revlon I knew I had to give it a go. I picked this up ages ago on discount but haven't gotten around to reviewing it...oops!

The colour I purchased was Flame (IS THIS BURNING AN ETERNAL FLAAAAAAME) it's a bright red and a great alternative to a red lip if your a lazy bum like me and can't be bothered reapplying your lippie during the day.

The wear of this is great, it fades nicely and evenly and the colour packs a punch!

My only gripe is the lip balm on the end, it is very small but also I went to apply it on a warm/humid day in Sydney and it just smooshed from the heat and has become pretty much unusable.

One thing I noticed and this may be the font nerd in me, but the font is very similar to the Twilight font, anyone else notice that? Next I want to try Passion which is a  bright pink.

If you want to check out these lip stains they retail for $17.95AUD and you can get them from department stores, priceline and pharmacies.

My First... Beauty Tag

This is a new tag started by the lovely Sabine from Bini Blogs Beauty I thought since it's a Saturday night and i'm home (laaaame) i'd give it a go.

1. The first time I wore makeup

I think I was in year 7 in high school, so probably around 13 or so?

2. The very first makeup item I was bought/given

I believe it was a mascara, I can't remember the brand but it would have been a cheapo for sure!

3. My first high end makeup item

A poppy king lip gloss from David Jones (this was when Poppy King was first out, not the re-release)

4. My first "going-out" look

I can't remember exactly but I do remember my makeup mainly consisted of eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss during high school

5. My first makeup faux pas

Wearing black eyeliner as lipstick... I was going to a Marilyn Manson concert

6. My first favourite beauty brands

Australis, Maybelline... anything cheap!

7. As opposed to my favourite make up brands now

Stila, MAC, Urban Decay, NARS

8. My first perfume

Sunflowers! I'm sure i'd hate it now

9. My first beauty obsession

Lip gloss!

10. My first favourite hair & body items

Impulse body spray, Palmolive Milk & Honey bodywash (still a favourite!)

11. My first nail polish

I was into black nail polish when I was in primary school but i'd wear it on my toes so I didn't get in trouble, it was a cheapo $2 one from the chemist

This one time my hair turned green at a Festival

Not kidding either!

In December I went to a music festival and saw the I guess you'd call them "shock rockers" Gwar. I knew what their schtick was all about so I knew they'd spew out blood and pus (actually food dye mixed with water) into the crowd (yes I know, gross but extremely entertaining!) What I didn't know was that i'd score a spot in the front row and this so called blood and pus would stain my blonde hair green!

Here are a few visuals for you, first a video of the band... don't freak out and yes I like weird music :) You can see me in this video too haha. Also a bit of a parental advisory here, if you are a youngen... maybe don't watch this as it's a bit uhhhmmm rude

and a picture I took of my boyfriend and I after the show covered in the food dye

After the initial freakout I went on Twitter and asked if anyone knew the best way to get food colouring out of blonde hair and bleach blonde hair to be exact. Someone mentioned dishwashing liquid, so that went with me into the shower with me.

Then I remembered something i'd be sent and thought i'd give it a try. It worked!!! I had to wash my hair a few times but it got the green out, I was so impressed and relieved as well since I had to go to work the day after.

So what was my little lifesaving gem?

This is the Wella BioTouch Pure Purifying Shampoo it retails for $22.50AUD and you can get it from Price Attack, Hairhouse Warehouse & Salons.

It isn't really meant for the purpose I used it as it's a purifying shampoo I use this shampoo weekly to get rid of any build up of product in the hair. It has these cool/weird little beads that remind me of a facial scrub but they're not at all harsh nor do you really feel them when you lather this into your hair. I was just lucky it worked for the purpose I needed at the time, but it has now become a staple in my weekly hair routine. Awesome job Wella! Thanks for not making me go to work with green hair :)

This product was sent for consideration, all opinions are my own.
