Link Love & Random Shizz!

I haven't done a Link Love post in eons... actually I think my last one was way back in January 2011..A YEAR AGO!! I typically did them on Fridays and was actually planning to get this up on Friday but hey I had social commitments :P

The good news is i'm fully caught up in my google reader so have managed to put together a little list of blog posts i've enjoyed over the past couple of weeks!

Enjoy!!

This is a bit of an upsetting one but one of my favourite bloggy gals Jacie from You've Got Nail is shutting up shop for awhile, she is an amazing asset to the Australian blogging community and it'll be sad not seeing her updates every week but she works so hard and sometimes taking a break is for the best. However give her some love as she is keeping the blog open so we still have access to all her wonderful and witty posts.

Jess from All I Want Is Everything has a NARS blush collection so drool worthy it makes me want to go on a major NARS shopping spree! She has kindly swatched her collecti0n so go have a squizz, don't blame me though if you end up buying a few. Check out Part 1 and Part 2.

Kimmi from The Plastic Diaries has made us a list of 11 Online Beauty Stores we need to check out! Are your pockets burning yet?

Tine from Beautyholics Anonymous lets everyone know what it's like being a beauty blogger, it ain't all champagne and lipsticks :P

Jen from The Nail Polish Project & my fellow Pro Nail Supply shopper does an amazing lightning bolt tape manicure,  I love the colours she's used!

Tegan from Tegania's Thoughts rocks some awesome Lime Crime lipsticks, I think the red is her colour, do you agree?

Chelle from Cosmetic Cupcake is awesome... full stop! Check out this amazing lace manicure she did, I reckon this would be awesome to rock at a Burlesque club!

Sarah from Dempeaux shows us how to do wing eyeliner, I've been practicing and I think I ALMOST have it down pat thanks to this tutorial!

Now for some photos etc I've been liking all around the place (all photos have been snatched from either my tumblr or pinterest)

A couple of songs i'm loving right now -

And lastly... something I'm lusting after, I want a rose gold watch!

Loving... Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Lip Tars Part 1

The OCC Lip Tars were by far the thing I was most excited about picking up at IMATS Sydney.  I'd heard amazing things about them and I can tell you now, it's all true!

It looks like a lip gloss tube, but beware! Don't apply it like you would a lip gloss! You only need the tiniest amount to cover your lips fully and I mean a pin drop amount...seriously. I find using a lip brush to be the best method for applying the product as well.

As for the formula of this product, I don't find it drying and I find the peppermint oil ingredient is kind of refreshing on the lips. One thing I do especially love is the wear, these do last on your lips which for a lazy can't be bothered to redo my makeup kinda gal (ie me) it's fantastic!

In Part 1 of my OCC Lip Tar posts i'm going to show the more wearable colours I have, which are Momento & Melange. The Lip Tars come in some cray cray colours (blue, yellow, green, black) while for someone like me who just loves makeup and not overly bold/daring makeup those colours are unheard of but for Makeup Artists they are fantastic or budding artists who enjoy mixing colours and making their own unique shades.

Momento is my favourite out of all the OCC Lip Tars, it's just a gorgeous wearabe pink it's just a no brainer colour for me.

If your interested in trying out OCC Lip Tars you can buy them in Australia from Makeup and Glow and they retail for $16AUD.

Also a little tip if you do own Lip Tars, sometimes the product does seperate (as you will see in my photo of the Melange tube) what you need to do to remedy this is place it facing whatever side hasn't seperated so the product mixes together. Shaking it doesn't help. So what I suggest is when you store them, move them around frequently to prevent it happening.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="OCC Lip Tar in Melange"][/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="297" caption="OCC Lip Tar Melange - Swatch"][/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="345" caption="OCC Lip Tar Melange - Swatch"][/caption]

I will have Part 2 for you later in the week (I need to retake shots of one colour because it didn't turn out true enough for me). Stay Tuned!

Loving... Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Coral Crush

Firstly... I know it's colour.... but for search terms etc when referring to these lipsticks i'll have to use color.

So one thing I noticed when seeing looks from NYFW (New York Fashion Week of course darlings!) and you know I was there right next to Anna.... no not really but lets pretend I was. One of the big trends was a bright lip and for us Aussies going into the warmer weather a bright lip is perfect!

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="480" caption="Fendi Spring 2011 (image taken from style.com)"][/caption]

I've said it before i'm kinda new to the whole lipstick thing, being such a lipgloss girl for so long i've only found my true love of a great lippie in the past year. I'm also not that experimental either, always sticking for neutrals and muted colours..... that's changed a little... I will declare it before each and everyone of you (5 people or so who read my blog haha) I LOVE A BRIGHT LIP! It makes you look more awake, makes you stand out and just looks awesome.

I was in my home away from home the other day... aka Priceline and wandering through the aisles looking for something fabulous to share with you all. I stumbled upon one of my favourite range of lipsticks (Maybelline Color Sensational) with a 2 for 1 offer. YAY!. So into my shopping basket I popped Pink Me Up which i've been lusting after for awhile and went away merrily swatching finding another colour to get. This is where I found Coral Crush.... It's a perfect spring colour pop shade! It's quite sheer so you can layer it on lightly or go for a more dramatic look with a few layers (my pictures are a few layers). It's not too bright that it looks like you've slapped some fluro zinc cream onto your lips but it just has that amazing pop of colour that is begging to be worn right now and coming into summer.

These lipsticks retail for $16.95AUD but I believe the 2 for 1 offer is still on until Thursday. I just checked the Priceline catalogue and next week they have $3 off Maybelline products. FYI Rimmel have a 2 for 1 lipstick offer next week too....so I may check those out too :)

Wipes Wednesday!!! Feat. Biore, Nivea & Swisspers

On Saturday I had the pleasure of going with Jade of Jade Musing (did you click? well you should have!) to the PRIMPED event at David Jones in the city. It was informative and we got a great goodie bag! However my only gripe with the whole thing is how blah we both felt after seeing Yaz Turkers amazing skin!! not one single blemish, smooth as silk and just perfection!

So after we had a look around in the big smoke (ie the city) we headed back to our little suburb, did I mention we live in the same suburb? yay! As always we declared our love for Priceline and had a bit of a looksie.

This is where Wipes Wednesday came into play, we both bought wipes and thought why not? So once again click on Jade Musings blog to see her take on Wipes Wednesday!

Wipes... what can I say they are an everyday part of my routine and I know when I go into the bathroom at night and use my wipes to remove my makeup that the day is well and truly over. It gives me such satisfaction to look down at the previously white wipe and see my slap on it because I know it's doing the job it's meant to be doing. Fear not I also cleanse with a normal cleanser after using my wipes... I believe your face can never be too clean.

There are so many different types on the market now they basically need their own section in Priceline. I've been using a few and there are some on my wishlist (Hello Yes To Carrots! and Simple) that I'm planning on getting to try next (There may be Wipes Wednesday Part Deux!)

Nivea Visage Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes (RRP $7.50AUD)

I bought these on a whim, I was in Melbourne and forgot my regular wipes and needed some more... yes needed! I couldn't find my regular brand so decided to try something new (ahh the life of a beauty blogger!) I really like nivea products and my skin was feeling a little dry and unhappy thanks to the cold I was getting over so these seemed perfect. I used them while I was away and they were okay, but not great. They removed my makeup effectively but they felt a little dryer then what I am used to and I didn't feel I was getting a really good clean from them. I also didn't find that they helped my dry skin much at all. I've still got some left at home but I don't find myself reaching for them all that often which really I should do because i'm concerned they'll dry out quicker then any others I have on the go.

Swisspers Cleansing Eye Makeup Remover Pads (RRP $4.95AUD)

These are a new type of wipe i've been using. Funny fact though when I was cleaning out my makeup room and sorting it all on the weekend I found another unopened packet of these that I must have bought awhile ago and never used... oops! These are great! They are soft, gentle and remove my eye makeup really easily. During the week i'm pretty plain jane and just wear a little black eyeliner and mascara but on the weekend when things get a little more exciting and I do proper eye look one swipe and it's gone! I don't really recommend using regular makeup wipes to remove eye makeup as they may be a litte harsh.

Biore Daily Deep Pore Cleansing Wipes (RRP $8.99AUD)

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE! These are my daily go-to wipes and I love them so much... can you tell? They really feel like they clean my face completely (again, I still do use a regular cleanser afterwards) but these seem to take off every little trace of my makeup and make my skin feel smooth, and refreshed they claim they cleanse, tone and exfoliate (I wish they'd also do my dishes but we can't have everything right?). The towels are moist (I hate using that word... but that's the only way to describe them) and they have little ridges or something that seem to help with the cleaning (or they are a gimmick? I don't know) The only flaw I have with these is that they smell a little chemically for my liking, but they work so I ignore that and it's really not that bad anyway! Please please please please never ever discontinue these Biore people!

Don't forget to check out Jade Musing for her take on Wipes Wednesday!

As always don't forget my Giveaway!! you only have until Sunday to be entered, so get crack a lackin!

Loving... Hair Products!

I am often in a war with my hair it's a big ol curly frizzy boofy mess and being a bottle blonde. This screams dry damaged and blah hair and the cold winter weather hasn't helped at all!

So fed up I decided to try out the raved about Moroccan Oil, i'm a sucker where there is hype around a product and get really dissapointed when it's not all it cracked up to be. I can happily say that Moroccan Oil and I are getting along swimmingly! My hair is soft and quite a bit more shiny (cue Vanessa Amarosi singing a song about my hair... oh... right it was about something else? Move along!). It also reduces drying time, well sort of... I found it didn't reduce drying time when I naturally air dryed my hair but when I got my Parlux onto it I was dried off and right to go to bed in less then 10mins. Cue morning when my hair is often a big boofy mess and I look like a backup singer for an 80s glam metal band, using the Moroccan Oil it's been a wavy smooth mess which is presentable enough to go out in public with and I don't even have to GHD it to have a poker straight do (I'm embracing the wave people!!)

So where do you get this fine product? I found mine in Hairhouse Warehouse but you can also find it at Salons and online. Be careful though because I have heard of fakes doing the rounds! It's priced at around $50 but you can find it a little cheaper if you look hard enough :) Just remember a bottle of this will last aaaages, you only need the tiniest amount and it goes a long long way!

The next product, is one I have been looking to buy for so long but it's never in stock or maybe it wasn't released? Not sure. Anywho it's the Herbal Essences None Of Your Frizness Hair Serum. Let's think back to where I said I wake up in the morning with boofy hair looking like a backup singer of an 80s glam metal band... This also helps that! It's my current favourite product to slap onto my hair after straightening it, or even when i'm embracing the wave. It smooths, It shines (dammit Vanessa Amorosi, stop singing about my hair!) it smells delicious! Kind of like watermelon? It's not heavy or greasy either. So for this wonder product you'd expect to be paying upwards of $20 right? Put away that credit card lovely and rummage through your coins because it's under $10! Mine cost me $7.99 at Coles.

It also has this anti humidity technology which will be put to the test come summer! Humidity is not my friend!

This one can be purchased at pharmacies & supermarkets and anywhere you can find that stocks Herbal Essences products. It's worth trying to find!

Don't forget to enter my giveaway!!

Pores Be Gone! Hello, Benefit POREfessional

So hands up who loves having pores on their face? I can pretty much guarantee no one has raised even a single pinky finger. I've only recently started noticing my pores a lot more and have become somewhat obsessed with them... yes people obsess over shoes etc, i've been obsessing over pores.. go me!

So I was so excited when I attended the Beauty Blogger Event and Benefit Cosmetics were launching their new product to us bloggers POREfessional, i'd read about this in the Benefit newsletter previously but learnt so much more sitting down with one of the lovely Benefit Gals to go over the details on this product.

So what's so special about this product. It can be used under your makeup to minimise pores and also over the top for touch ups. The packaging is a little more unisex because they also wanted to target men for this product... Yes guys, you too can have a pore-free complexion! It's so light that you don't know your wearing anything extra on your face... and it works!

One of the perks about the launch of the product is we got to take one home to try ourselves, i've been using it everyday since the event and it has really made a difference. My pores are particularly in my t-zone and mostly on my cheeks, I always notice because this is the first place my foundation goes a little haywire and sinks into the pores (FYI I do also use a primer). So I tap the product into the areas where I can see my  pores the most. When I used the POREfessional I have noticed my foundation stays put so much better and it glides on so nicely and looks so much more flawless. I did have a few comments on my last video for July Favourites about my skin, and I think this product has something to do with it.

So you want to go buy this product yourself right? Well it is available at all Benefit counters in Australia from 21st August and it retails for $53
This product was given to me as part of the launch by Benefit Cosmetics, This is my honest opinion and I am not being compensated for my opinion.

Amazing Makeup - Christina Hendricks LA Times Magazine

I've been seeing these pictures on a few different websites of the Mad Men star, and while I don't watch the show I am absolutely in awe of how amazing the makeup is in this photoshoot. Some of the lip colours are so bold yet seem wearable, they simply pop. Her amazing porcelain skin (which partly may be due to airbrushing/photoshopping) is so enviable.

I also really love the perfect winged liner, it's what I wish I could get my liner to do! It looks as though they have kept the same eye look throughout the photoshoot but changed the lip colour.

Look at that jewellery!!

I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do

May Favourites

I've been a bad bad blogger of late! I've had a lot going on at work and by the time I get home i'm exhausted and the last thing I want to do is turn on my laptop.

Hopefully everything will calm down soon and i'll get back into the swing of things... actually it's June which is always crazy! so bear with me :) I'm sneaking this post in while no one is here at work yet and it's quiet.

I missed doing my Thank Tumblr It's Friday post on Friday but will try and do a double one this Friday to make up.

Okay so May Favourites ... honestly I didn't use anything majorly different this month so there won't be a lot of products mentioned, hopefully I'll find some lovely stuff this month but my shopping mojo was down last month :(

Simple Moisturising Facial Wash & Hydrating Light Moisturiser

I am absolutely loving these products! They are another supermarket buy that I got in May and they are a winner.

The cleanser (Moisurising Facial Wash) takes the day off my face and hydrates as well. It is a gel like consistency and I find only using a little bit goes a long way with this product.

The Light Hydrating Moisturiser does what it says and it is a light moisturiser that sinks into my skin quickly and feels hydrated and soft. It also makes my mornings a breeze because it sinks in so quickly I don't have to wait around to apply my morning makeup.

If you have sensitive skin, I recommend you try out this range the products are all under $10 so definitely within most budgets. They have a few more products that I want to try out as well and will probabaly get in the near future.

Like I said I got mine at the Supermarket but they are also stocked at Priceline and i'm sure some Pharmacies sell them to.

I also think the packaging is cute (you know i'm a sucker for good packaging!) the tagline they use is "smile, it's simple" and reading this does make me smile.

____________________________________________________________

The other product i'm loving in May and is almost finished :( is my MAC Lipglass in Mimmy from the Hello Kitty range.

Does anyone know a dupe for this colour? I'm almost out and looooove it

____________________________________________________________

Last thing and is quite important for this time of year.

HAND CREAM!

I'm currently using a Cath Kidston one that I got for Christmas from my boy's parents from this set.

I apply this everynight along with my Lush Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter because i'm finding because it's getting so cold my hands are so dry and yuck (especially my cuticles)

I also keep a Hand Cream at my desk at work and apply that during the day as well, it's a Missha one but I think I want to try the Lush Smitten Hand Cream next as i've heard good things about it. I'm due to go to Lush in a few weeks :) yay!

I hope everyone is well and had a lovely month of May, what products did you love in May? If you've written a blog post or just want to comment i'd love to hear about them :) I need some lemmings for June!

April Favourites!!

Another month has gone, which is unbelievable! This year is once again going way too fast for my liking, before we know it we'll be Christmas shopping again!

However, another month going by means another favourites! I've got a few favourites this month actually, and one in particular that has become a HG (holy grail) item!

So lets get started....

Urban Decay Primer Potion... how did I live without you? I've had this product for a couple of months now, but really started using it a lot more in April because I was doing more eyeshadow looks. I'm sure you've heard the hype about this product, and it's all true!

I was lucky enough that a friend picked this up for me overseas but I believe you can get it from www.crushcosmetics.com.au in Australia and also Ebay might also be an option?

April has also been the month where I got my first Ulta3 polish... it's love I tell you :) I've since bought quite a few bottles and will continue buying more. For the $2.50 price point these polishes are amazing! For an idea, i'm wearing a China Glaze polish at the moment (For Audrey) that I applied last night. I've already chipped one nail... one day in! My Ulta3 polishes however don't start chipping until day 3 or 4! If your in Australia try and find these, you won't be disappointed.

Benefit Sugarbomb & Stila Convertible Colour in Lillium

Why are these favourites and why have I put them together.... CHEEK GLOW!! These colours look amazing layered for a long lasting glowy cheek. First apply the Stila Lillium to your apples and then apply the Sugarbomb over the top...AAAAHHHMMMAAAAZZZINNNNG!! Try it and let me know if you love it as much as I do!

I have been waiting this whole month to talk about this product!! I don't know why I didn't just do it as a "loves..." product but anyway... here it is!

Covergirl Outlast Lipstain.... oh my god! Go and get it right now...seriously!

I bought the colour "Flirty Nude" and it is the best YLBB (Your Lips But Better) colour i've found yet. The tip is like a texta which is kinda fun, it smells fruity and it really does last. I put this on of a morning and it's still going strong well after lunch. I do apply gloss throughout the day as well and it makes no difference, I still am rocking a Flirty Nude lip!

It's also a really great price, I think I paid around $15 for it which is not bad at all.

Hope you enjoyed my favourites this month! Can't wait to see what May brings :)

March Favourites!

We are a couple of days into April now so this is a little late, but I wanted to get to the end of March before I posted anyway... so here are my favourites for March

Snow Fairy by Lush - yummmmmm this is probabaly my favourite smell in the world right now. It's a Shame it's a Christmas exclusive however sometimes Lush has a few things they throw in throughout the year that have the Snow Fairy smell, also Godmother soap which is a permanent soap has this fragrance. I'm actually working on something fun at the moment with my mum with this scent.... can't really say much more yet but all will be revealed in the next few weeks :)

Angels on Bare Skin by Lush - I finally got another tub of it after a long hiatus without it. My skin adores this stuff!

Jurlique Rosewater Freshener - I spray this on my face at night before I put on my Rosehip oil to make my skin damp, it works really well. This is a super old bottle and I know packaging has changed but seriously this stuff lasts forever!

Sally Hansen Kwik Off Nail Polish Remover Tub - An absolute god send for removing stubborn nail polishes like glitters, you stick your fingers in the little slots and spin them around and once you pull your finger out...wallah! nail polish is gone!

MAC Viva Glam Cyndi - I'm getting more into lipstick lately, i've always been a lipgloss girl but i'm finding really pretty lipsticks out there. Cyndi is no exception it's a soft watermelon shade that is really buildable and would probably be wearable for most skin tones. Plus all proceeds from Viva Glam lip products go to the AIDS foundation so not only will you have gorgeous lips, you're helping a good cause.

China Glaze - Atlantis - This is probably my favourite nail polish I own, and if i'm ever painting a friends nails this is what I always put on them because the reaction is always the same... WOW... I wore it a lot this month because I decided to take only 2 colours away with me (this being on of them)

Music wise, my favourite album this month has been Hold Me Down by You Me At Six . These guys are only young and this is there 2nd album. I caught a bit of there set at Soundwave and they sounded great live. They're rumored to be coming here at the end of year so looking forward to seeing them then!

Did you have any favourites in March? Drop me a line and let me know

February Favourites!

Does anyone else think this year is going too quickly? Well here we are again at the end of another month. I have decided to do a post at the end of every month about my favourite things of the month. Hope you like it!

Seche Vite Topcoat

I read rave reviews about this and thought I need to try it. Glad I did! my manicures look so much better since, polishes look better and glossier and they last longer too. Love love love this product!

Benefit Coralista
I'm generally a Nars Orgasm devotee, but I bought Benefit Coralista earlier in the month and haven't stopped wearing it since it arrived in my post box. The colour is so pretty, really wakes up my face and reminds me of summer (too bad today is the last day of summer in Australia)

Marc Jacobs Lola

I own quite a few Marc Jacobs perfumes, he is my favourite designer after all. When I saw there was one coming out called Lola I knew it had to be mine.... main reason... my laptop is called Lola... I name everything! Anyway I got this for Christmas and I love it! I think i've worn it almost every day since. I've found people either really love or hate this fragrance. Luckily I love it!

My Dinosaur Life - Motion City Soundtrack

This might seem an odd choice in my favourites, but if you know me I love my music. This album has consumed my life this month, I adore it. Even if you've never heard of this band I strongly urge you to go and listen to this album. I was lucky enough to see them at the Soundwave Festival last weekend and they were amazing and played a few songs off this album (I also bought the shirt with the dinosaur on it..)

Hope you enjoyed my favourites and let me know if there is anything that has been consuming your life this past month.

Goodbye Summer!! (can't wait for winter fashion to be honest!)
