Nails - Essie Pretty Edgy

I recently ordered some new Essie polishes, one of those was Pretty Edgy. I am addicted to anything nail related in blue or green or a mixture of both :)

Pretty Edgy is what I would call a synthetic grass green, astro turf, bowls green just not real grass. It applies well becoming opaque in 2 coats and the wear of this polish is actually very good. These swatches were actually taken after 4 days of wear.

Essie is a brand i'm just becoming familiar with and I can tell you I am really like their polishes! I've heard talk of bad Essie & good Essie, I don't think i've come across bad Essie yet! Cross fingers I won't either.

What you really came here to see, pictures!

I know I said before I called it a synthetic grass green, I also think it's a pretty close match for Starbucks green too! Caramel Frappucino Light Please!

You can find Essie now stocked in Myer for $18.95AUD a bottle, or do a little searching online :) I purchased my polishes from Enchanted Beauty Spot and highly recommend them

Product Review - L'Oreal Paris Perfect Clean

I will admit, I am a complete sucker when it comes to the marketing of products so when I saw the new L'Oreal Perfect Clean in a big display out front of my local Priceline I was intrigued.

What intrigued me so much was the little scrubber pad that seemed to be attached to it, which from my research is actually called a "Scrublet", I'm also a sucker for gadgets and this really is a skincare gadget.

This product comes in 3 varieties - Detoxifying Foaming Gel for Normal to Combination Skin, Clean for Dry & Sensitive Skin, Gentle Apricot Scrub for all skin types.

I bought the pink one which is the Clean version for Dry & Sensitive Skin to try out. The Scrublet is meant to help deep clean your skin right into the pores for me personally I found it a little pointless and it didn't really do anything out of the ordinary. It was also a little hard to work around the nose and anywhere that isn't a complete smooth surface. The cleanser itself is quite thick and I felt like I needed to wash my face again afterwards as it still felt like I had product on my face even after i'd washed it off.

Having said that, I do think this might work a little better with the scrub product and I may try that at a later date (if I see it on special)

Final Thoughts - I wouldn't repurchase this product, and I don't think it'll be something that will sneak it's way into my everyday skincare routine either. It just didn't do anything for me and seems a little gimmicky more then anything else.

Product Info - You can buy this from major Supermarkets & Priceline for a RRP of $12.95 but I suggest keeping an eye out for when it's on special.

La La Love #1

I used to do "Thank Tumblr It's Friday"... and it was fun because I love inspirational picture posts. I've re-invented it for lovevulcanella.com with La La Love (it's a random thing I say... I think I got it from a song).

How is it different, well I enjoy doing these on a Friday but sometimes a Friday doesn't always work out for me so it can be any day of the week (I will TRY and make it Fridays though) and not only will it feature inspirational pictures but also other little things I want to post... basically random banter! This is completely and utterly self indulgent but I hope you enjoy it and I hope it helps you get to know me a little better.

I love this band... Can anyone guess who they are without using Google? If you do, well La La Love to you :)

True Blood is nearing it's season finale... I'm really going to miss the batshit crazy antics of Russell (I hope he makes it out alive!)

My baby is back from repair! Never letting the boyfriend make bread in her again. I need to make something super delicious to celebrate! I love the colour of this one, mine is black... had to go a boring colour so if I ever decide to get all the other matching appliances I can.

I got my tickets for Soundwave Festival this week, I'll be honest and say that this lineup isn't as exciting as the previous 2 years for me but there are still a ton of bands I want to see. I just hope they fix the shade situation in Sydney, it was unbearable last year. So far from the current lineup announcement and any timetable clashes (always the worst!) i'll go and see... Iron Maiden (not a big fan, boyfriend is though and I think they will be good live), Primus, 30 Seconds To Mars, New Found Glory, Pennywise, Third Eye Blind, Sevendust, MXPX, The Ataris, Bayside, The Starting Line, The Maine... but until then I'll try and listen to all the bands I don't know and find some new ones to like as well :)

Guess what i'm doing on the 30th of September... no one knows except my mum, boyfriend and I, keep it quiet please :)

I hope you've enjoyed this post and don't mind stepping into my world for a little while. Have a wonderful weekend and Keep Smiling :)

In With The Old! Skincare you swore by

I decided to go back to basics this week and repurchase a couple of my old favourite skincare loves. I am constantly purchasing the new things that I see hit the shelves to try out for you guys (I have reviews coming of some stuff i've been using actually) and a lot of the time I find they just don't work like my old faithfulls did. So I decided to take a step back and go back to what I know and love and what I know works for my skin (well hopefully still does...).

Fear not! I will still be trying out new products because that's what I do, but it's a good feeling to have the ones that I know work for me in my cupboard in case any disaster strikes.

So what are my old faithfuls? They are inexpensive and easy to find in the stores (I think that's one of the reason why I like them, I can be anywhere and know I can get my hands on them!)

Do you have any old faithfuls that you always need a backup of? I'd love to know :)

Visiting Adriano Zumbo Patisserie

I LOOOOOOOOOOVE THE CAKE! If you don't understand what i'm talking about you need to watch the amazing show that is Little Britain, but because I like sharing the love here is a clip... Enjoy and thank me later

The reason for the cake love is that I visited the patisserie of crazy cake man Adriano Zumbo. You may have seen his work on Masterchef where all the little chef wannabes shake in their boots at the mention of his name. His cakes are out of this world, the combinations he comes up with and the look of them just amazes me. Check out his website and have a look for yourself.

On Saturday morning we lined up at around 10.30am at the Balmain store which is the size of a pantry, it's tiny! The line moves quickly though but it's really hard to get a look at all the goodies when there are so many people... I was actually glad that i'm an over-organizer and checked out the website and went with a mental list of what I wanted to get.

I ended up getting the following -

SHABALICIOUS: Caramel crunch, caramel sponge, caramel cheesecake, caramel chew & caramel cream cheese mousse (for the boyfriend)

WHAT A GREAT PEAR OF...: Almond creme, pear vanilla creme patisserie, pate a choux sable, pear gel, almond crunch & almond struesel

CHARLIE'S HOMEMADE GINGER FEAR: Ginger beer gel, ginger pudding soaked in coconut syrup, chocolate ginger foam eggs, ginger crunch, ginger chantilly & passionfruit bavarois

I also picked up 3 Macarons (ON...NOT OON) I ended up getting Chocolate, Cherry Coconut & Raspberry Beetroot... BEST MACARONS EVER... Yep I've said it! The Raspberry Beetroot was amazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing! I had it for breakfast this morning :)

Now if the descriptions aren't enough, here are some photos to even more delight the senses... grab a napkin because you are probabaly going to drool on your keyboard in 3, 2, 1......

Nails - BYS Asteroid

Due to my awesome purchase yesterday of new BYS polishes and with the new week ahead I had to change polish colours.

Say Hello to Asteroid... quite an interesting little polish, in the bottle it looks black base with goldy flecks in it. First coat it comes out as a dark chocolate base with goldy flecks. Second coat it seems like a black polish but step into the sun and woah Bronze micro glitter, no not gold....bronze! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE! May I also say that this applied like a breeze!

I'm a big fan of polishes that look black until you get super close and see they are in fact something entirely different.

I took a few different shots to try and get the full effect. If you have a range of BYS polishes available to you, get onto this one ASAP!

NOTD - BYS Hocus Pocus

This is my very first BYS polish, I've heard such great things about them on other blogs and with the reasonable price I knew I had to try them out. They are sold in Kmart, The Reject Shop & Gloss Stores. You can also buy them online at Fashion Addict.

Hocus Pocus is a bluey green colour, with a light blue microshimmer. Very pretty and very me! I'm so addicted to any polishes in blues and greens I now need to stop myself buying them when I see them because i'm getting close to duping most of them..ooops!!

The wear of this polish was okay... I did get a couple of chips on the first day but I also know my Seche Vite needs replacing and I think this is part of the problem.

I have photos of course, how odd would a polish post be without pictures! These  don't show the true true colour, I tried to get it as close as possible but it's a really hard colour to photograph with my little Sony Cybershot (I need a new digi cam... hello... digi cam fairies?)

Nails on Tour - Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Celeb City

There is a reason why i've called this Nails on Tour, it's not a NOTD because I changed that last night (pics to come of this tomorrow...promise!) also I took the photo of this nail colour at the aiport waiting for my plane to go to Splendour In The Grass. I must also make note that this is one of the worst nail photos i've taken, I do apologize but I will try and get a better shot of it next time I wear it.

Let's talk about the polish itself, because I know thats what you want to hear about . This is my first Sally Hansen polish in the Xtreme Wear range so I was excited to give it a go. Application was decent, at first I tweeted that I didn't like it at all but quite frankly I think it was because I was being a little careless with my application, so not Sally Hansens fault at all!

Celeb City is a gorgeous metallic silver which I think is a true true silver colour it has tiny tiny microshimmers in it but basically it's silver.

The wear of the polish... O...M...G... AMAZING! I put this on Thursday and only had 2 minor chips a week later (see 2nd picture below). I'm hoping this wasn't a fluke or maybe it was because I used a different base coat, i'm not sure. I did buy another colour in this range so i'll be interested to see if it lasts as well as Celeb City did. I'll be sure to report back to you all on that. Actually it's not the base coat because I just noticed a chip in my current polish which is a different brand with the same base coat.

If you want to get your hands on this polish or any others in the Xtreme Wear range, I got mine at Priceline for under $7.

Splendour In The Grass 2010

On the weekend I attended Splendour In The Grass in Woodford, QLD. This was my first Splendour In The Grass experience, having never visited the site at Byron for this festival before. With reports of bad weather I spent Thursday in search of gumboots, which I found and wore all weekend though the rain didn't come... well there was a slight sprinkle at one point but nothing overly dramatic.

I won't go into a ton of detail about my weekend except say it was fun fun fun! Highlights for me would be Florence & The Machine, Ash, Clare Bowditch, Jonsi (I wish I didn't leave for Passion Pit, because he was AHHHH-MAZING), The Pixies gah and I can't remember who else... I saw so many bands!

Here are some piccies I took, I thought i'd take more but I always forgot to pull my camera out... oops!

Pores Be Gone! Hello, Benefit POREfessional

So hands up who loves having pores on their face? I can pretty much guarantee no one has raised even a single pinky finger. I've only recently started noticing my pores a lot more and have become somewhat obsessed with them... yes people obsess over shoes etc, i've been obsessing over pores.. go me!

So I was so excited when I attended the Beauty Blogger Event and Benefit Cosmetics were launching their new product to us bloggers POREfessional, i'd read about this in the Benefit newsletter previously but learnt so much more sitting down with one of the lovely Benefit Gals to go over the details on this product.

So what's so special about this product. It can be used under your makeup to minimise pores and also over the top for touch ups. The packaging is a little more unisex because they also wanted to target men for this product... Yes guys, you too can have a pore-free complexion! It's so light that you don't know your wearing anything extra on your face... and it works!

One of the perks about the launch of the product is we got to take one home to try ourselves, i've been using it everyday since the event and it has really made a difference. My pores are particularly in my t-zone and mostly on my cheeks, I always notice because this is the first place my foundation goes a little haywire and sinks into the pores (FYI I do also use a primer). So I tap the product into the areas where I can see my  pores the most. When I used the POREfessional I have noticed my foundation stays put so much better and it glides on so nicely and looks so much more flawless. I did have a few comments on my last video for July Favourites about my skin, and I think this product has something to do with it.

So you want to go buy this product yourself right? Well it is available at all Benefit counters in Australia from 21st August and it retails for $53
This product was given to me as part of the launch by Benefit Cosmetics, This is my honest opinion and I am not being compensated for my opinion.
