Weekend – Nail Polish, John Mayer, Macarons…

What a busy weekend! I'm looking forward to the next weekend and doing nothing but sleeping in, watching foxtel and maybe a little baking!

So instead of breaking this up into a few blog posts I thought i'd do a full one with all details of my weekend and pictures etc.

First off...well not officially part of my weekend  but on Thursday night I popped into Sportsgirl (as I often do) and checked out the new nail colours.... what did I find... a dupe of this little colour

This is the current "It" colour, if you didn't know already. The Sportsgirl version is called "Milkshake" I think maybe because it's sort of the colour of cocopops milk, or a chocolate milkshake (only crunchy!!)

Here is the Sportsgirl one on my nails, I didn't think id love this colour... but I do :)

On Saturday I had a family wedding, which I didn't take any photos at. My dad did the photography so i'm sure I got in a few pics.

Then mum and I headed into the city to stay overnight at the Holiday Inn @ Darling Harbour for our John Mayer concert / Mothers Day. We went to Starbucks a few times... yes I'm obsessed with Starbucks (Caramel Frappucino Light)

On our way to sbux, we saw the Birthday of the Buddah festival was going on, this was a really cool setup and people were praying around it. So colourful!

After a not very nice dinner in Chinatown, we headed to the Entertainment Centre to take our seats for John Mayer... front row... yeah!!! My first time ever being front row at a sit down concert! I thought everyone would sit, but no they got up so we had to as well. I took a lot of photos... over 200!

John Mayer was fantastic, despite all the media shit that surrounds him he is a fantastic musician and Saturday night was no exception. The set list alone was perfection with me squealing before almost every song because I was so happy he was playing them :)

The other guitarist was so awesome and funny :)

Then after John Mayer we went and got Starbucks...again... see a pattern? :) I also wanted to go to Lindt Cafe and have waffles and hot chocolate, but they weren't doing food so we picked up some macarons!! yummm! We got Passionfruit Delice, Champagne & Coconut

On Sunday morning we had breakfast on the harbour which was lovely, and then went home because it was my little babies 4th birthday... which little baby? Penny Lane!!

Her favourite thing in the world is McDonalds Chicken Nuggets, so that's what she got for her birthday. I think she was a happy girl :) My mum had to feed them to her of course :) She ate 8 and Minnie got to have 2... oh well it was her birthday! I can't believe she's already 4, it seems like only months ago I was picking her up from the airport when she was a baby.

After a great weekend, it's back to work and the regular day to day! Looking forward to next weekend... they really aren't long enough!

Whats In & Out in the world of love vulcanella…

I saw Gold Dusk do this post on her blog (VISIT IT PEOPLE!) and thought it was a great idea! So i'm copying... :)

IN
  • Cold weather is finally here! It means snuggling in bed for sleep ins on the weekend, hot tea & comfort food.

  • Masterchef! If you know me already, you know I am obsessed over Masterchef, I can't miss an episode and those I do miss get IQ'd to watch later. This also means i'm blogging less (which isn't an In at all!). I also cook worse when it's on because dinner needs to be done or something I don't need to stand over the stove and watch while Masterchef is on....defeats the purpose really doesn't it?

  • New music from my favourite band in the world... Silverchair! I unfortunatly have missed their shows with Groovin The Moo but I found some footage of their new songs on YouTube... so glad my boys are back :)

  • MAC - I'm only just recently becoming obsessed with MAC makeup and I love it. I try and add a few things to my collection once a month to build it up, it's a slow process though since everything is so expensive here and I don't trust many of the online sources because of the fake MAC out there.

  • Tights & Stockings - One of my favourite things about winter, and this winter fashion particularly is the tights & stockings trend. I wear opaques almost everyday to work in winter but I'm looking forward to finding some cool patterned style stockings as well to jazz up a normally boring work outfit a bit, and also for the weekend :)

  • Shampooing hair twice... this might seem like a "duh" thing to a lot of you but i've always ignored the directions on the Shampoo bottle and only done it once (I blame laziness more then anything). Lately however i've been Shampooing twice, and what a difference is makes! My hair is just like when I've been to the hairdresser... so happy! Shame i've ignored it for 28 years prior!

  • My Buzzz... Candle! I haven't really talked about the candles my mum and I make on here yet because I don't want to seem like i'm constantly advertising for us. However, I had to write about this candle because the smell is amazing, we have called it Buzzz.. however it's actually a dupe of the Lush scent Honey I Washed the Kids (we can't name it that for legal reasons) If your a fan, this smells exactly like it. It's a perfect smell too for those chilly nights because the honey and toffee is quite warming. My favourite thing about our little business is getting to pick the fragrances, and finding the Lush dupes was like hitting gold for me... I also have a Snow Fairy one at home (FYI it's my favourite Lush scent ever!) it's also spot on!
OUT

  • Trandesign - Not their fault however, but they no longer ship to Australia   :( They were the best online retailer for all your nail goodies in my opinion. Now it's finding a new one! Any recs please let me know and i'll be a guinea pig and try them out :)

  • My Skin! Due to the weather it's gone all dry and blah! My makeup isn't sitting right and i'm not happy with it right now. I'm trying to hydrate both my skin and myself as much as possible to bring it back to life but for some reason nothing is working. I'm going to try a mask this weekend and see if that does the trick. I need a trip to Lush to get the Oatifix mask! That did wonders last time!

  • Pay Day... no I love pay day, I just hate that my pay day is once a month. At first it was great but now I can't stand it and am always struggling during that last week! I really need to budget better.

  • Shopping. I usually love shopping and it always makes me calm and relaxed, however lately I've found nothing that I like and everything I do like is either overpriced, not in my size or looks terrible on me. I always go shopping with a vision of what I want and can never find it. Perhaps I need to go blindly in a sense?

  • Ticket Scalpers... I guess this is always an OUT for me? I don't think i'd be stressing so much over Splendour in the Grass tickets if it wasn't for these weasles! We need to find a way to regulate the ticketing system so they don't buy all our tickets to concerts... and how do they always manage to get the best seats to seated concerts? I don't know...

April Favourites!!

Another month has gone, which is unbelievable! This year is once again going way too fast for my liking, before we know it we'll be Christmas shopping again!

However, another month going by means another favourites! I've got a few favourites this month actually, and one in particular that has become a HG (holy grail) item!

So lets get started....

Urban Decay Primer Potion... how did I live without you? I've had this product for a couple of months now, but really started using it a lot more in April because I was doing more eyeshadow looks. I'm sure you've heard the hype about this product, and it's all true!

I was lucky enough that a friend picked this up for me overseas but I believe you can get it from www.crushcosmetics.com.au in Australia and also Ebay might also be an option?

April has also been the month where I got my first Ulta3 polish... it's love I tell you :) I've since bought quite a few bottles and will continue buying more. For the $2.50 price point these polishes are amazing! For an idea, i'm wearing a China Glaze polish at the moment (For Audrey) that I applied last night. I've already chipped one nail... one day in! My Ulta3 polishes however don't start chipping until day 3 or 4! If your in Australia try and find these, you won't be disappointed.

Benefit Sugarbomb & Stila Convertible Colour in Lillium

Why are these favourites and why have I put them together.... CHEEK GLOW!! These colours look amazing layered for a long lasting glowy cheek. First apply the Stila Lillium to your apples and then apply the Sugarbomb over the top...AAAAHHHMMMAAAAZZZINNNNG!! Try it and let me know if you love it as much as I do!

I have been waiting this whole month to talk about this product!! I don't know why I didn't just do it as a "loves..." product but anyway... here it is!

Covergirl Outlast Lipstain.... oh my god! Go and get it right now...seriously!

I bought the colour "Flirty Nude" and it is the best YLBB (Your Lips But Better) colour i've found yet. The tip is like a texta which is kinda fun, it smells fruity and it really does last. I put this on of a morning and it's still going strong well after lunch. I do apply gloss throughout the day as well and it makes no difference, I still am rocking a Flirty Nude lip!

It's also a really great price, I think I paid around $15 for it which is not bad at all.

Hope you enjoyed my favourites this month! Can't wait to see what May brings :)

So today I met Napoleon Perdis…

If you follow my twitter you'd know today I was getting my hair done, and possibly going to the Napoleon Perdis signing at my local shopping centre.

So both happened...first the hair, just got my regrowth re-done and a light trim (i'm currently growing my hair).

I'm not a fan of going to the hairdresser, but I am a fan of being blonde so they go hand in hand. I was there for 4 hours! Yes really.. they were busy. To make matters worse, my hairdresser is currently a little obsessed with Justin Bieber so his album was on repeat for these 4 hours... torture? yes! Lucky she threw in my haircut for free! :)

I also have not gotten Bieber Fever!

She also did a different toner, so its not as ashy and more beigy, I like it!

Anyway, Napoleon was meant to be signing at 2pm and I got out of my hairdressers at about 2.10pm but thought i'd go check out how busy it was and see if it was worth it. I went and the line wasn't massive and crazy so I bought the book Forever Flawless (your ticket into the signing) it was only $26 so not a massive chunk out of my wallet. It looked like I missed out on the goodie bag for the first 100...blah!

Does anyone else watch Napoleons show on telly? I do! Rebecca his assistant from the show was there! SHE'S TINY!!! TEEENY TINY!!! Please don't tell me who wins, i'm so behind on Foxtel IQ I've got another 2 episodes to go. FYI This show is what redeemed Napoleon Perdis for me...good PR people! I was never really a fan, until I watched this show and now I kinda sorta don't mind him :)

So back to my story, I was waiting in line for the man himself to arrive. MC for the day was Charli from Hi5 fame...which was... odd. I started chatting to one of the people running the event and asked if there were any goodie bags laying around...and she said yeh here is the last one :) Yay! freeeeeebies! I'm such a loser.

He arrived, with a entourage with cameras etc, what a star! haha we all got through the line and I had my turn, told him I love the show and he said "thank you, I appreciate it" anyway he was friendly sitting there with his sunglasses on. So rock star of you Napoleon!

Onto the book, I've just had a flick through and honestly it's a big advertisement for his makeup, not that I ever expected him to put other brands in his book. There are some techniques etc which look like they could be interesting and i'll give a go but basically it's every product in his range explained and what they do. I will have a better look later though, but honestly.... unless your a fan, or get the opportunity to get it signed (ie. me) I wouldn't really bother.

Sorry for the crap picture, It was taken with my iPhone

Goodie Bag contents - NP Set Lip Glosses, look like they were from Xmas & Primer Sample (it's a crime not to prime).. Also a free fusion shirt, footless tights and a $5 target gift card.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend, my boyfriend is currently cooking dinner... yay! I'm listening to the new Punk Goes album, which is Classic Rock (so it's called Punk Goes Classic Rock) I love these albums and have collected every single one so far.

I should also be posting my April favourites tomorrow too! Until then... have a great weekend :)
