loving… Lipstick Queen Medieval

So last week I fell in love, I thought maybe this new love might be fleeting and my glow would only be noticed for a day... but no... this love has continued on every day and I have been told about my new glow everyday.

Who do I thank for this glow? THE Lipstick Queen, Poppy King!

and Why? She invented this amazing tinted lip product

If you want to try ANYTHING new this year or buy yourself a bit of a pick me up product, go and buy Lipstick Queen in Medieval.

On the website they describe it as the colour the ladies in medieval times would have gotten on their lips when they stimulated them with lemons for a blood red look, it so does this!

I'm mostly a gloss girl and am only newly venturing into the world of lipstick, this was a tad scary because it's a dark dark red in the tube but on the lips it's a sheer red that I believe would look good on any skin tone (looks great on my pale skin!)

Every day I have worn this someone has told me I looked pretty that day... massive compliment I think?

Due to it being a tint the wear isn't overly long but it's quick and easy to re-apply and my colour seems to last for a few hours at least.

So where do you buy this miracle product? www.kitcosmetics.com.au is the only stockist I know of in Australia,  you can buy online or go into a store/counter.

Why not pick it up while your meeting Poppy King? Yes it's true you can meet the Lipstick Queen herself and have her pick out a lip colour for you! Check out the details at www.kitcosmetics.com.au for info on where she'll be and how you can book in.

I'll be at the Pitt Street session on Thursday night :)

Brownies!

It was my boys birthday on the weekend. He loves caramel but I always seem to make him caramel things. He also loves brownies...so ta dah! I made brownies!

I made these using the recipe from How To Be A Domestic Goddess by Nigella Lawson (my kitchen idol!)

Ingredients, note my Lurpak butter I love this stuff... steps are followed and then mixed all together in my lovely heart shaped mixing bowl looks like this

After some cooking! This is how they came out

Don't you hate waiting for baked items to cool... I do! This is how they looked after I cut them...yummmm so good!

Here is the recipe if you wish to give these a go. However I think mine were a tad undercooked so I suggest you keep an eye on the firmness etc. They are perfectly fine now I've got them sitting in the fridge but were a bit of a pain in the ass to cut...hence the messiness in the above picture!

Nigella Lawson Chocolate Brownies from How To Be A Domestic Goddess

375g soft unsalted butter
375g good quality dark chocolate
6 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
500g caster sugar
225g plain flour
1 teaspoon salt
300g chopped walnuts (i didn't use this much)

Preheat the oven to 180degrees and line your pan with baking paper.

Melt butter and chocolate together and set aside to cool slightly. In a separate bowl mix together eggs, sugar and vanilla.

Mix chocolate mixture in with the egg mixture and then mix in the flour, salt and walnuts.

Pour into tin and bake for 25mins (I don't think this is long enough, but that could be my oven so just check it)

YUM!

NOTD – Sportsgirl Nail It Purple Rain & Review

As you might already know I am a fan of Sportsgirls nail polish brand Nail It. They have now changed the bottle design to look a bit different and funkier and released some new colours which I assume are for Autumn.

I picked up 2 of the new season colours and the first one i'm going to show you is Purple Rain. The other I got is Concrete Jungle and its a dark gray.. I'm excited about this colour because it's exactly the colour I was after for winter.

This purple colour hasn't shown up too well in photos but there is a fine pink shimmer throughout the dark almost eggplant purple. It's quite a pretty colour and has lasted quite well on my nails. It is quite similar to the Nars nail polish of the same name (I've only seen swatches though).

The application of the colour was a problem however, The new bottles are long so a lot of the polish picks up on the stick part of the brush this means that you end up with too much product which can become a little difficult when applying colour. This is definitely a design flaw on the new bottles and I'm considering sending an email to Sportsgirl about it.

Here are some pictures of it on my nails and a picture of the new bottle design.

Sportsgirl Nail Polish can be purchased in store or on their website at www.sportsgirl.com.au

OOTD & FOTD – My heart is yearning but Paris is burning

This is nerve wracking...an outfit post! Well it's a picture of the dress I was wearing yesterday. I love it and it was a cheap buy last year ($15 on sale at www.freez.com.au)

I had it sitting in my wardrobe but never wore it... it's a tad tight at the top but I love the print so wore it anyway :)

see my lovely ironing board... I hate ironing!

I also did a sort of Lauren Conrad inspired makeup look (who else loves The Hills?, sucks without Lauren doesn't it?)

For this look I used the following -

Base - Face of Australia Primer, Revlon Colourstay Foundation in Buff, Everyday Minerals Powder in Linen
Bronzer - Nars Laguna
Cheeks - Benefit Coralista
Eyes - Coastal Scents Black Gel Liner, Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara
Lips - Lipstick Queen in Medievil

It was also my boyfriends birthday yesterday :)

February Favourites!

Does anyone else think this year is going too quickly? Well here we are again at the end of another month. I have decided to do a post at the end of every month about my favourite things of the month. Hope you like it!

Seche Vite Topcoat

I read rave reviews about this and thought I need to try it. Glad I did! my manicures look so much better since, polishes look better and glossier and they last longer too. Love love love this product!

Benefit Coralista
I'm generally a Nars Orgasm devotee, but I bought Benefit Coralista earlier in the month and haven't stopped wearing it since it arrived in my post box. The colour is so pretty, really wakes up my face and reminds me of summer (too bad today is the last day of summer in Australia)

Marc Jacobs Lola

I own quite a few Marc Jacobs perfumes, he is my favourite designer after all. When I saw there was one coming out called Lola I knew it had to be mine.... main reason... my laptop is called Lola... I name everything! Anyway I got this for Christmas and I love it! I think i've worn it almost every day since. I've found people either really love or hate this fragrance. Luckily I love it!

My Dinosaur Life - Motion City Soundtrack

This might seem an odd choice in my favourites, but if you know me I love my music. This album has consumed my life this month, I adore it. Even if you've never heard of this band I strongly urge you to go and listen to this album. I was lucky enough to see them at the Soundwave Festival last weekend and they were amazing and played a few songs off this album (I also bought the shirt with the dinosaur on it..)

Hope you enjoyed my favourites and let me know if there is anything that has been consuming your life this past month.

Goodbye Summer!! (can't wait for winter fashion to be honest!)
