Product Review - Australis Lash TLC Mascara

This review has been a long time coming, sitting in my images waiting for me to write about it. Well tonight i'm motivated and ready to talk about this mascara.

Firstly, the packaging is cute! Bright pink and very 80's flashdancesque (yep totes made up a new word). Australis seem to have had a bit of a makeover of late, and are no longer the cheapie brand you used in high school but really coming into their own with the products they are bringing out.

So this mascara claims to add volume, length and condition your lashes. It does add volume and length but not quite enough for me, I like the big fat lashes I get from my Maybelline The Colossal mascara. I can't really comment on the conditioning of the lashes... mine felt no different.

Having said that though, this is a great mascara for perhaps someone who is looking for a more natural lash look or a young girl just starting out with mascara.

This product retails for $14.95AUD so once again a great price point for someone young starting out in makeup.

Manicure Monday - Flake me Away!

I'm enjoying these Manicure Mondays and hope I can stick to it, mind you sometimes it will just be a plain colour, nothing fancy.

Today i've gone fancy!

One of my favourite polishes of all time is the Nubar 2010 Flakey polish, it is seriously amazing and needs to be seen in person just to see the cool colours that come from it.

I'm pretty certain i've posted about this polish before but I quite liked this mani and thought i'd show you, even if it's a repeat. Underneath is a basic black but I think that just highlights the amazing colours in the flakey bits of the Nubar Polish.

The Prescription - Illamasqua Boosh, Nubar 2010 & Seche Vite

The results, ignore the chip...pretend it's not there... move along...

So pretty!!!

Lip Quickie - NARS Lipgloss in Sweet Revenge

Just a quick one to show you a lip gloss I picked up recently from NARS, the colour isSweet Revenge and it's a sheer pinky/peach colour. It reminded me quite a bit of MAC Mimmy which was released with the Hello Kitty range and I absolutely adored!

The formula of this gloss is quite nice, not overly sticky and not thick at all.

A nice everyday colour that you can always have in your handbag and it's guaranteed to match any makeup look you have going on.

You can purchase this from -

Mecca Cosmetica - $55AUD

Strawberry Net - $24.50AUD (prices may change)

Kiss and MakeUp NY - $24USD and $9.95USD shipping

Product Review - Face of Australia Eye Primer

Eye Primers... In my opinion an absolute essential! They create a base for you to apply your eyeshadow which generally makes the shadow more pigmented and also last a lot longer.

Recently I got to try out the Face of Australia Eye Primer and I was stoked because my regular eye primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion) isn't readily available in Australia and also costs $19USD per tube. The primer comes in 2 different formulas, matte & shimmer. I tried out the matte version. So did it measure up?

To test it out I used my regular Urban Decay Primer Potion on one eye and the Face of Australia Eye Primer on the other eye. The Face of Australia Eye Primer is quite matte and thick and once smoothed onto the eyelid my eyeshadow applied really smooth and pigmented and unfortunately that's where my good comments about this primer end. My eyeshadow creased within 2hrs and while the Urban Decay Primer Potion was still going strong on the other eye I was pretty much shadowless by the end of the day on Face of Australia's eye, not a good look at all.

I also can't really think of another use for this primer (I know some people are using the shimmer primer as a highlighter...genius!) so if you do want to give it a go, perhaps go for the shimmer version so you can use it as a multi-use product.

You can purchase this eye primer for $7.95AUD from all Face of Australia stockists (Priceline, Kmart, Big W etc) or online at Fashion Addict (and it's only $6.95AUD there)

Manicure Monday - Truly Outrageous

I'd like to dedicate this manicure to a super stylish character.

JEM!

This manicure came about by mistake after i'd had a small fail with my crackle polish not crackling enough (I blame myself for applying a little too thick...thin = cracks) so I decided to put some glitter on the top to mask my mistakes and I loved the look!

The prescription - Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Celeb City, China Glaze Crackle in Broken Hearted, China Glaze Fairy Dust & Seche Vite

Result! Ignore my crapola nails, cuticles everything! I've not been looking after them like I should be.

I actually own this shirt and it's one of my favorite items of clothing

Reading Fun!

I know my blog title says randomness and I haven't really done random for awhile.

So let's be random and talk books!

Does anyone else read a few books at a time? I do...well I did until I got totally invested in this series

I'm only on the first book but i'm already so engrossed in it... totalling rooting for Katniss and Peeta as well... GO GO GO! :) They are making movies on these books too (seriously what books don't they make a movie on these days?) so it's kind of nice to have an idea what the characters will look like while i'm reading... Unlike Twilight when I read that long before the movie my perceptions of the characters were quite a bit off!

So before The Hunger Games took over my reading life I was reading these books

This Is Why You're Fat by Jackie Warner - Yep not the best book to take out in public but she has so many good ideas about being healthy and since i've been embarking on this getting myself fit lifestyle change, her words inspire and motivate me!

Sweet Valley Confidential - Jessica..Elizabeth.. Whats Up! I loved the Sweet Valley series when I was in high school so when I saw there was a grown up new installment...well I was on it like I used to be on grilled cheese sandwiches (not anymore...byebye carbs)

and on zee Kindle....wait for it...

I've given up on this one a bit as it's a little slow in the start but i'll give it another go once I finish The Hunger Games. I think once we get to his career it'll get interesting. I've also read Jenna Jamesons biography as well, I liked it because she dished on some rockstars :)

What are you all reading? Have you read The Hunger Games and got engrossed like me? Do you also enjoy biographies about porn stars? :) haha oh just thinking of the interesting google searches that will find my blog now!

Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks... Perfect?

I've been waiting for these lipsticks to hit Australia for ages! Almost even tempted enough to buy them on ebay after the rave reviews i'd read so when I spotted them in Priceline and with the Covergirl special of 3 for 2 I couldn't resist!

The Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick line is quite similar to the Maybelline Colour Sensation Lipsticks in that they have quite a large range of shades and group them into a certain shade group eg. Nudes, Pinks, Reds etc. However on looking at the Covergirl US website (these aren't on the Australian site that I can see) I don't think my Priceline had the full range of colours.

How sexy is that packaging! I think Covergirl have hit the ball out of the park on that one.

After swatching a bunch on my hand I picked out the colours Feline (Shimmery Pink), Darling (Pink) & Spellbound (Purpley Pink..yes thats a description, this colour is amazing). On first swatch these felt AH-MAZING! So creamy and pigmented, so far it seemed like all the good reviews I'd read were true!

I've now tried out all 3 colours that I purchased and can say i'm ready to buy some more. These lipsticks are amazing, first and foremost they are moisturizing and my lips never felt dry wearing them. The colour lasts! So far Feline & Spellbound have outlasted Darling but it was still a contender lasting around 4hrs (that includes morning coffee, breakfast etc).

The RRP for these lippies is a mere $14.95AUD and you can buy them at Priceline, Pharmacies, Supermarkets and anywhere that you can buy Covergirl. I'd say these are pretty close to perfect, especially for the price.
